I will emphasize on trigonometric substitution/integraion (i.e. spend more time on revision if you are not already familiar with them). You are strongly encouraged to attend the recitation class and ask the TA questions.

Course Description
MTH 162 is a second course on single variable calculus. We will cover these sections in Stewart's Essential Calculus (2nd Ed): 5.1-5.8 (transcendental functions and their inverses), 6.1-6.3 (methods of integration), 6.6 (improper integrals), 8.2, 8.5-8.8 (infinite series), 9.1-9.4 (polar coordinates) and 7.7 (introduction to differential equations).

Grading scheme
Homework (40 %)
I will assign homework problems to you each week. Assignment will be made available to you
in the course homepage. Homework is due and collected at the end of
the lesson on Wednesday. Please write down your full name and student ID. Late
homework will not be accepted.
Midterms (30 %)
There will be three 50-minute tests (held during the recitation classes). The test dates are: Feb 7, Feb 28 and Apr 4. The test with lower score will be dropped and each of the other two remaining will be worth 15% towards the final grade. There will be no make-up tests.
Final (30 %)
The final would be on
Monday, May 5 from 2pm to 4:30pm at UB 402. Scope: Stewart's book Sections 5.1-5.8, 6.1-6.3, 6.6, 8.2, 8.5-8.8, 9.1-9.4.
