Exams:
There will be three midterm exams and one final exam.  The midterm exams will be held during class in our classroom.  The tentative schedule of exams is as follows:
You will be responsible for the material covered in the lectures, the readings, and the homework.

The date and time of the final is set by the registrar.
If you have a conflict with any of these dates contact me as soon as possible.

The three midterms each count 15%.  The final counts 30%.

Homeworks & In-class work:

Homework will be assigned here and will be due at the beginning of class on Tuesdays.   No late homework will be accepted. Your lowest two homework grades will be dropped.  Write your solutions neatly and show your work.  Staple your homework!

The homework and in-class work counts 25%.

Late Homeworks/Missed Exams:
No late homeworks will be accepted.  Two homework grades and one quiz grade are dropped to give leeway for unexpected occurences.  A missed exam or quiz cannot be made up unless there is either prior approval and a good reason for the absence.

Working together:

You are strongly encouraged to work on the homeworks and study for the exams with others.  Every assignment however is to be the product of your own work.  For example, a small group of classmates may together work out a difficult proof.  When it comes time to write up the solution, each student should write up their solution in his/her own hand finalizing the organization of the proof independently.

Exams must be done independently.

Academic Honesty:
Each student will uphold the University of Miami Honor Code.  As a succinct reminder, each student will write out and sign the pledge on each exam:

UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI HONOR PLEDGE

I have neither given nor received unauthorized aid on this piece of work, and I understand
and will uphold the ideals of academic honesty as stated in the Honor Code.

Grades:
The grades will break down as follows:
I'll also let the Final count another 15% in place of one Exam if that works out better for you.

Course grades will follow standard cutoffs A >90, B>80, C >70.  If it is adjusted, it will be in your favor.
