It's a fail in my book. No 16x9 and low res screen.

I'd rather have a win7 or Android tablet. Optimally, I'd have a 6 inch Maemo device.

Your average Joe will see the iPad and think "Wow, it's a big iPhone which lets me access Facebook, Gmail, YouTube and my music. I won't have to bother with antivirus, boot times or any of that crap."

The iPad is not a laptop replacement. It's a pretty specialised device - a device for accessing certain popular online social media applications without the upkeep associated with a "normal" computer. Viewed in that light, it might do pretty well.
