Yeah, I got Diamond the day I posted that.
Need to set up the Wi-Fi USB adapter thing so I can go online with it eventually.
There any good strategy discussions going on for it yet?
StarCaliber mentioned he was going to try to start up Sneakville again, I'm not thinking that happened, did it?

You'd have to ask starcaliber for that, but anyway, yeah, battling online is going to be freakin nice.

Yeah, online battling is what Pokemon was meant to be from the very beginning, conceptually.
It's a shame it didn't come along until now, the technology was there during the PKMN2 era.
I can see the metagame going in cycles, where the dominant teams get metagamed against, then those teams get anti-metagamed, and that allows the original dominant teams to reenter the metagame, etc.

Yeah, but the thing about online battling is you'll never know what to expect.

I'm not so sure about that. Once a few different teams have established themselves as being clearly superior, I think most people will play them. Let's face it: 99.9% of those "I didn't expect that"-teams will suck ass.
Compare it with trading card games, like Magic: The Gathering: there are invariably a bunch of decks better than others, and in a competitive environment, those decks will be played more.
I think you vastly overestimate the integrity of Pokémon playing 12-year olds. While I would certainly make a team consisting of my favourite Pokémon, or keep a Pokémon which has meant a lot to me (for example, it helped me defeat a gym leader) on the team, I doubt that "I'LL GOING TO BE TEH MASTER"-preteens will. They'll play with what earns them wins.
You get bonus points for being an idealist, though - I'm with you, but I've played enough competitive games (like Magic) to know what to expect.

I'm amused that playing with sucky-but-unique teams is "integrity" and expecting people to play with them is "idealism".
It's also worth noting that the Magic mentality is one borne by the expensiveness of playing at all, and I don't expect it to dominate Pokemon outside of the highly competitive circles.
If anything, the preteen-gotta-win crowd will be dominated by pogeys who look cool and feel powerful, like the Psychic/Thunder/Blizzard/FireBlast Mewtwos of yore.
