That's funny...I checked out that site yesterday to see how they'd taken the news.

While poking around, I found out we're getting to Mercury in 2011. That will be pretty exciting. Hope I'm not dead by then.

Seriously what is taking so freaking long to get to Mars. Could be a one way trip and they'd still have thousands of qualified astronaut volunteers for the mission.

I don't think we'll get to Mars any time soon, as it seems that developement on the ISS slowed down after the Columbia accident. If I recall correctly, ISS was to serve as the "stepping stone" to Mars.

It's interesting that commercial spaceflight is, if not taking off (pun not intended), then at least on its way. Commercial interests may be what will fuel the next space race.

Maybe I should change my major to rocket science... If the space industry takes off (har har) - say someone finds gold or whatever in the asteroid belt - I think it will be *huge*.
