that shit is a terrible waste of bandwidth and time. it was cute at first to go with the games, but never had any plot past "lol here is a new pokemon!"

I have the first 159 (hehe, "first") eps of the anime on my HD. 26 gigs I could use better...

Every now and then, I like to fire up a random ep and watch it, just enjoying the adventure taking place in that particular episode and reminisce.

I wish I could live in the Pokémon world. I'm such a dork.

Are they still making new ones? It was great for the first year or two. Mostly the beginning, when it seemed to make no sense whatsoever.

I think it jumped the shark when they went to the Orange Islands and got that fag instead of Brock.

I guess they're satisfied with the low quality at this point and don't mind that it's no longer a phenomenon. Seems like it would be cheap to get some new writers and make it great again, since it's already got such tremendous brand recognition, but maybe the same recognition would mean no one would notice if it got any better.

Is it still Ash and friends or is it now EXTREME Pokemon or some shit?

Same stuff. This past season, Ash won all the badges in the Hoenn region and competed in the Hoenn Tournament, and did well but didn't become champ. Upon returning to Kanto, and after taking on the new Veridian City Gym Leader (Elite Four's Agatha) in a friendly match, a character named Scott asked Ash to compete in his Battle Frontier, spread around Kanto. Rejoined by May (who's competing in Kanto Pokemon Contests), Max and Brock, Ash now challenges the Frontier Brains for their Frontier Symbols.

Incidentally, Pokemon USA has reclaimed the rights to dubbing the episodes from 4Kids and given them to another company. For the regular series, this starts next season, but they also created a special 1-hour episode called Master of Mirage Pokémon, which the new company dubbed and it debuted last weekend. It's amazing that not only were they able to resurrect Jimmy Durante from the dead, but that they also managed to cast him as the voice of Brock. The other voices, I don't think they were too bad, but the translation didn't seem very good. And the theme song for the special was the worst theme song ever; not just for Pokémon, but possibly for any children's TV series ever.

Oh, yeah, when the KidsWB line-up moves to the CW next season, Pokémon (and Yu-Gi-Oh) won't be joining it. Pokémon USA is possibly in negotiations with Cartoon Network to air the 9th season there.

There doesn't seem to be a Japanese version of this special, at least not yet. So how can one say that the translation didn't seem very good?
