If you've learned anything by now, it should be that I make serious posts(?). This one is mostly reflective, and feel free to add or comment.

I don't drop by here often enough now-a-days, and neither do many other people. Some have moved on to other boards and others have left completely. No matter how much I try to repress it, Azure has been part of my life for a good 5+ years now. And pokemon for a good 7 years or so.

I hit 20 years yesterday (or two days ago now that's it passed midnight [Razz] ). I'm afraid that my life will get too complicated and too busy and just forget this place exists. It won't matter much anyways.

But I would like to know, before your life gets busy too; before you get crappy buisness and presentation courses; is that (because whoever is still here has been here for a long time) once pokemon has been released out of your system (if it hasn't already)

I restarted my sister's gold version and was about to play it. Than I realized that each generation the game got more strategic, but at the same time a lot less fun than RBY. Now I have to breed for moves and achieve higher DVs now that they were passed from ditto. Once I remembered that, it sucked all the energy out of me. FR/LG/R/S/E are worse unfortunately. Because I really want to train my wailord and chimecho. I don't plan on playing anyone, so it shouldn't matter, but it does. I think it might be the last time I touch the game.

But now that pokemon is gone, there is no reason to come here (or smogon, or anywhere). And suddenly that special area in my life is gone. I will probably still be here for some time to come, but not much.

One thing I do not understand is people 'dropping it'. I think we all know at least one person who has been a part of something else (whether it be a board or a project) and one day just left it cold turkey. But I'm sure it sticks with them, like a bad cold that won't go away. And they probably shurg at the mere meantion of it.

For weeks and months.

This place has changed and so has I. For those that have left without saying a word about it; really, fuck you.

There have been many-a-times where people leave and there are always something you wanted to say before they left. A symbolic gesture, a kind word, or telling them what you REALLY thought about them. But they leave forever and never seen again. Its depressing, it really is. Do people just come and go? Enter and leave your life like a revolving door. I guess what really pisses me off is that I thought he was my friend, but I guess I was wrong.

Hopefully this post will exist before Mr K decides to turn this into a bunny fetish site.

For what its worth Cesar, very well said. I mean that.

And I do know how you feel. Somethings just cannot be the same, yet we still try to hold onto them anyway, and perhaps in some way, things really can still be the same...

I wish you the best. Remember, life is what you make of it, and, they can never take away your memories of Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold and Silver. I will never forget when my Chansey won me 1st place at my first Nintendo official competion ever on my Yellow Version in Summer of 2000.

Hold onto that, it will never leave you... [Smile]

I share your feelings about the Pokémon games - GSC was still fun (I didn't mind the complexity then) then RuSa was way too complex for me, and generally filled with crap I didn't care about. That put me off to the Pokémon games a lot, and now I don't care much about the new games (lol ppl still play pkmn? [Wink] )

I also find it hard to leave Azure - it's been a big part of my Internet life. I don't mean Karp Park, I mean Azure as a whole - learning all the secrets about Pokémon battling was awesome, when I started to kick my friends' asses in battle was awesome, speculating about or discussing the anime or aspects of the Pokémon world was awesome.

I think Wintermute put it best when he said that we were all taking part in a global fantasy - at that time, I was a fucking Pokémon trainer, who travelled the entire world and saw and did things, met people and made discoveries. I also made real-life friends through Pokémon. We met, battled and pretended together.

Of course you miss it when it's gone.

I've also failed to find an online community of as high a quality as Azure - Azure was one of the first forums I joined, and that led me to believe that all forums were as good as Azure - friendly people and interesting and well thought out discussions. That is not the case, I've learned since then - a lot of the forums I've visited after Azure are filled with bitterness between the members, idiotic oneliners and generally no real content at all.

It's a bit hard to move on, actually. I'm no depressed psycho maniac about it, but filling the void of Pokémon and Azure is no easy thing to do.

Come play some random 2v2 battles on netbattle r/s style. The games are fast paced and challenging even if you never build a standard team you can still enjoy pokemon to this very day.

I swear I was just about to make this exact thread.

I still see some of the guys from UBER periodically and Mr. K and I had a little fun project on NationStates (K, if you get this - sorry I kinda went AWOL, I was travelling and by the time I remember to check my nation, it was gone). But other than that, it's been very disheartening to slowly see all my old Azure eBuddies slip into the nether of the real world.

I also keep wondering why I come back here. I can't even make the excuse that I'm here to chat with my old Azure buddies, because it's not like any of you even know who I am.

I still hang out here, but mostly to lurk. The main reason though is 'cause in some small way, there's still some good Pokémon chatter here. In fact, I found some cool tips just the other day. So yeah, this place still serves its purpose, and I'll keep coming in to see if anything new pops up or if there's anything interesting to talk about in the Pokémon universe.

'Cause goodness knows, every other Pokémon MB sucks and are filled with annoying brats. At least here, it's at least somewhat filled with immature adults that are more interesting to talk to.

And if it makes anyone feel better, I'm still obsessed with breeding and leveling up Pokémon. I do it every day at least a couple hours while watching T.V. 'Cause one of these days, when Pokémon finally and truly comes online, I want to have a team ready to kick your asses. And that day is coming ever closer with the Revolution and the DS. Just you wait...

It's interesting that there's any Pokemon discussion at all around here. I saw some new Pokemon thing came out for the Cube, and I thought I might want it for maybe 3 seconds before I remembered that I don't know or care about any of the new Pokemon.

It was pretty nice when we all had actual conversations here, and in my off time I'd think about some new angle from which to view a particular topic.

At first I hated all the one-liners (because we were actually trying to talk), but then when people got really good at them and I stopped caring so much about the forum, I was kind of impressed. Then I realized that there are whole forums full of that kind of thing where people hone their flaming skillz and it became much less impressive.

Irony is fun and all, but it's nice to have a place where you can visit and talk about how you're having some troubles with your girl and only half the posters call you a pussy-whipped faggot.

Yeah. I miss such a place.

(though I guess I eventually made people go "oh god, not another 'I have no girlfriend' thread"... On a related note, I just saw the girl from "So there is this girl" today. Kinda hard to stop and talk since we were both riding our bikes in opposite directions on a busy road. 1.5 years since I saw her last and my heart still raced like mad. She didn't raise her hand to greet me. Sigh.)

This topic expresses my feelings about this board very well.

I still love this place. Not as much as I used to, but still, I wouldn't give up anything from this board. The fond memories of Pokemon discussion, MK's jackassitiy, NONE of it.

I still visit every day.
