I though it was pretty cool, since it means it has managed to both cross the Atlantic, and then fall out of someone's pocket where I could find it. Yeah I know, it's called a "coincidence", but it's not every day you find foreign coins on the sidewalk.

Actually, when I think of it, just two months ago I found some Russian or Greek coin on the sidewalk, and here's where it gets interesting.

The penny and that other coin had something in common. They were both tiny and made of copper, which, incidentally, is exactly what a Swedish 50-öring looks like.

This made me, just now, come up with a theory of why it is not *that* unusual to find pennies on Swedish sidewalks - someone visiting the US simply mistook the penny for a 50-öring and then brought it back home, where the mistake was discovered, and the coin tossed on the sidewalk.

This makes me wonder - anyone ever found a 50-öring on an American sidewalk?

Also, I need to get out more - there are a variety of small foreign coins just waiting for me on the sidewalk...

Nope, pretty much just Canadian money here. Occasionally something from the islands, but not often.

Those beaver nickels rock.

I got a weird Canadian penny with a seagull on the back. I think it's some sort of centennial coin or something. In any case, I keep these things in a big jar on my dresser.

Don't have any foreign coins, but for a brief period, I did collect old coins. I did one of those mail-order things where you get an old coin for so-and-so dollars. Never finished it, but I had a collection of old silver dollars. I also had this thing with all the different American pennies dating back to WWII.

But my favorite (and oldest) is a certain lucky American dime from 1877. Got it at a county fair some years back for $15.

I've found bullets and bullet casings on my sidewalk. [Eek!] I actually have a small collection going. I have a 45. casing, one 38. bullet and two 45. bullets (which appearantly flew their course without hitting anything since they are mostly intact) . I can't wait to luck into some spare change instead

Maybe it was my boot wearing, pick-up driving, conferdate flag belt buckle toting conservative neighbors shooting at make beleive Democrats again. Heh maybe they were shooting at me because they found out I support a modified communist idealogy. The world may never know...or care
