Me likes:
- Tabbed browsing
- Place an RSS feed in the toolbar for your favourite news site/blog and get instant access to the new material without having to surf there (more sites had RSS feeds than I knew about, sweet)
- Define shortcuts for your favourite searches. I now type "e2 foo" in the address to look up whatever I think about on Everything instead of going there and doing the search
- Google search built in, both in address bar and as a separate thingy
The last two things are really helping me out a lot, together with tabbed browsing, since I like to instantly google/e2 things I happen to think about when surfing the web. I'm an information junkie...
Oh, just remembered to add a shortcut for a GameFAQs search...

Firefox is the official God of net browsers. I've had mine for about 4 months now, still serving me well.

I've been using FireFox for a couple months now.
I like it a lot.
I've progressed from Netscape Navigator to Internet Explorer to Opera to now FireFox in the past two years.
I'd like to check out the new Google browser, even though its essentially the same thing as FireFox.
Yay for open source.

I use Firefox. Except I have the Firesomething extension, so I'm currently browsing with Mozilla Waterraccoon.

I used opera once and gave up on it. Advertisements I still use firefox, tab browsing rocks. That reason alone is enough to switch.

It's probably too late to pimp it now, but SpreadFirefox.com was taking donations to buy a full page advertisement in the New York Times. They were expecting 2,500 users but ended up with over 10,000 (with a total of $250,000 in donations).
Not too shabby.

It doesn't work well on my computer. A good portion of the sites I view just won't plain load. I put a "check minus" mark on Firefox. [ 11-03-2004, 11:27 PM: Message edited by: Sonuis ]

Firefox was good pre 0.7, and now with the more recent 1.0RC1/2 builds it's been getting better abd netter. 1.0PR is garbage though.

Yeah, it used to be much more convenient to leave cookie shields up, then turn on websites when they complained. Now, unless I'm missing something, you have to go find the don't-save-cookies rule for a site and then delete it, instead of just saying "let this site gimme cookies".
Did they just hide that option or did they really take it away? [ 11-08-2004, 10:32 AM: Message edited by: Mr. K ]

I bet you did not know that Firefox is the only browser available for Linux that is not awful.
Thus, I use Firefox.
Also, I like the browser.block.target_new_window feature in the about:config on, because that's all I used non-mouse-gesture extensions for anyway.

I think we've got four browsers on the family computer. For a while I used Firefox, but it seemed like it was crashing all the fucking time. Even Internet Explorer didn't crash that much. (Although IE does come close.) It seems alright, but I just can't stand it crashing so often. Thusly, I've gone back to good ol' Mozilla.

Way back in the olden days?

Oh well. I have FireFox on my laptop, but I'm still using IE on my PC. I prefer Google's own toolbar as opposed to their built in stripped down version, and I also like my dictionary.com toolbar. Lastly... it can't run executables without downloading them permanently! Is there something you gotta turn on with that and shit? Personally, I like being able to control everything it does, and FireFox simply doesn't have very many controllable preferences, at least compared to IE. I like the tabbed browsing, though I wish there were both a "New Tab" button and that the new window opened up automatically to my home page.
That is all.

New Tab button coming up:
Right click the menu bar at the top of the browser. You should see a menu that says:
Navigation Toolbar Bookmarks Toolbar Customize <--- Click this.
When you click Customize, you should see a New Tab buttom amoung the others. Drag that button anywhere you want in the top toolbar, and voila, you have your own New Tab button.
If you want a better Google toolbar, go here: http://googlebar.mozdev.org/ Check out https://update.mozilla.org/ for all the available extensions and themes -- you can arrange them by rating, which is great. There might be a Dictionary.com toolbar there, I'm not sure.
To tweak the settings a bit and make Firefox lightning-fast, check out this page: http://www.tweakfactor.com/articles/tweaks/firefoxtweak/1.html
Just spend about thirty to fourty minutes installing different extensions/themes, and tweaking with the user.js file, and trust me, you will definitely see how great Firefox is.
Extensions I recommend for anyone new to Firefox:

I dunno how much you can control in IE, but if you type "about:config" and press enter in the location bar, you get a hell of a lot of shit to tweak. Most of it seems to be pointless, though.
