Reading this anti-gay thing was like facing a wall of punches. My mind still reeling from each unrelated diatribe, the next illogical statement was awaiting to pummel me with 1+1=3.

I doubt any of you conservatives are really gonna try and defend this piece, because you can pretty safely have conservative opinions (and even oppose gay marriage) without utterly abandoning reason even eight words as these guys do.

Ok, just a taste:

Biology cannot be altered by wishful thinking or court decrees.

Wow. Cause I'm sure *that's* really what this is about.

Early in the article, they speak as if we are trying to legislate men to be pregnant or something- a thing that science might actually accomplish, though I'm sure these yokels would try to make it illegal just because it might make people they don't like happy or something.

This is just a wonderful example of sizzling 16 oz Stupid served rare.

In response to cfalcon's post -- yes it is a poor argument. But it is obviously a poor argument, so who cares? Confuscious say "There is too little time in this life to waste breath worrying over Mr. Stupids opinions."

It was just straight off of a Yahoo! page, and I wasn't expecting stupid to be packed so densely. I was kind of wondering if any of the conservative types here (MK, Char42, etc.) would read that package of bullshit and confirm that it isn't just my libertarian mind reading that as horseshit. It's like this guy just brought up all the worst non-arguements against gay marriage and put them on the website. Fuck, I bet if you pkzipped that shit, it would stay the same size, because it's stupid density is as high as it'll go.

I agree that it is horseshit, although I haven't read it.

My views enjoy doing the right thing (which just so happen to be conservative a lot), and the right thing in relation to gay marriage, IMO, is to let them be and exist. I think that saying "marriage should be between a man and a woman" is not a completely dismissable reason - so I would like to see it called by some other name. Just open up the Public Code of Marriage Laws in Word, copy-paste the whole thing into a new document, and change every instance of the word "marriage" into "civil union" or something.

So yeah. I didn't read it, but I know what it probably says - what I don't agree with.

Well, considering that the Washington Times is one of the most insanely conservative large-circulation newspapers on the face of the planet, it's not overly surprising... I wouldn't ever go into one of their articles looking for a straight view (suppose that wasn't the best choice of words).

Actually, the Supreme Court hasn't yet made that declaration, but if homosexuals have a constitutional right to marry, then men, by parity of reason, must have a constitutional right to bear children; all it takes to rewrite the laws of nature, according to some, is a court order or legislative action.

Do men not have a legal right to bear children?

Yea, that one got me too. I mean, if some scientists makes it possible, is there some LAW gonna stop them? Why? It's not like the constitution says that shit falls down, and it's not like somebody took the Wright brothers to court...

Just a really, really stupid article.

FRANCIS:
Why are you always on about women, Stan?

STAN:
I want to be one.

REG:
What?

STAN:
I want to be a woman. From now on, I want you all to call me 'Loretta'.

REG:
What?!

LORETTA:
It's my right as a man.

JUDITH:
Well, why do you want to be Loretta, Stan?

LORETTA:
I want to have babies.

REG:
You want to have babies?!

LORETTA:
It's every man's right to have babies if he wants them.

REG:
But... you can't have babies.

LORETTA:
Don't you oppress me.

REG:
I'm not oppressing you, Stan. You haven't got a womb! Where's the foetus going to gestate?! You going to keep it in a box?!

LORETTA:
[crying]

JUDITH:
Here! I-- I've got an idea. Suppose you agree that he can't actually have babies, not having a womb, which is nobody's fault, not even the Romans', but that he can have the right to have babies.

FRANCIS:
Good idea, Judith. We shall fight the oppressors for your right to have babies, brother. Sister. Sorry.

REG:
What's the point?

FRANCIS:
What?

REG:
What's the point of fighting for his right to have babies when he can't have babies?!

FRANCIS:
It is symbolic of our struggle against oppression.

REG:
Symbolic of his struggle against reality.
