Only played it a couple times.
Better report tomorrow.
I could see how some people will complain (and the Mario Worldish theme isn't what it should be, the game doesn't quite feel like the others), but the two racers is cool, the select a kart is cool...
A lot is badass about the game.
The only complaint I have so far is that the wacky items are a little *too* wacky. Lightning shrinks you and you lose your items *AND* it has happened 5 times of the 6 courses I have played. The spiny shell is the most socialist item I have ever seen: I couldn't get it to hit the fucker in front of me, but that militant egalitarian shell flew over everybody and knocked down whomever was driving the JohnGaltMobile in first place.

It'll be even more of an antiplutocrat in multiplayer, I bet.
So still no F-Zero, of course... but if you are a Mario Kart fan, you'll really like it.
After I beat Mushroom 50cc I got a new kart.
This is a very good precedent.
I haven't read any spoilers, so don't post big ones in this thread.

well actually you'll start to love the blue shell even more after you got hit by it in the last round on 150ccm and because of that finish 4th instead of first (yes happened to me... a lot).
Bu in multiplayer the more skilled player usually wins so it's not that bad. Battle is DIFFERENT but really fine, too - i had some really great matches.
I have finished all cups in all classes today only time trials left. I am looking forward to warppipe/xlink with gcn support ![[Smile]](smile.gif)

well compared to the new spiky shell the old one is almost cute. The new one flies straight to the 1st @ 8*10^8 m/s and explodes (red shells don't) and takes the items.

Perhaps you never played Mario Kart 64?
The spiny shell there shot forward (and if you aimed shitty, hit a wall), then drove the course.
This meant that if you were far enough behind, you knew where to stand to hit the dude a little in front of you. This one seems to fly *OVER* them (or maybe I just haven't played it enough yet).
Plus, a spiny shell was a danger to *EVERYONE*, not just the guy in first, and it equalled just one wipeout.
Lightning costs you your item now? Now that's just fucking wrong.
It costs both of your items (you are allowed one for Peach and one for your other driver. Or, technically, one for each driver, but the general case hasn't happened yet).
Anyway, I used to like the spiny shell, but now I think it's crap.
Why do spiny shells have wings, anyway?

It's good, my friend has it. Needs better battle stages, they're too small for 4 players, except the mansion.
Weight classing is crappily done, too.
Aside from these, it's good.

Well I heard that if you beat all cups tour at 150cc with 160 points and with every different character-character-kart combination, you can unlock Sonic, Tails, and Sonic's kart. Then you can unlock Tail's plane by repeating the process, this time including the new characters and the new kart.

There is no Sonic, Tails, or non-Nintendo chars. None. I wqas surprised the Kongs were still there, what with the Rare betrayal and all. Second to SSB:M, but it'd be pretty hard to beat that. The one thing I loathe entirely is the cheeting CPU's on 150cc. Fifteen feet from the finish line, I get hit with a lightning bolt and not one, not two, but three Blue Shells, one after the other. I ended up finishing a full five seconds after the bastard in seventh place. I still got the gold on that circuit though.

(spoilers)
Beating all cups tour on 150cc unlocks the mirror mode, which is like 150cc but all the tracks are mirrored.
Then when you beat Star Cup in mirror mode you get Boo and Petey Piranha. If you beat special cup in mirror mode you get Boo's kart, and if you beat all cups tour in mirror mode you get the parade kart. I don't remember about battle stages though.
