What do you do to get rid of it?
If someone has a method besides dusting and using wet paper towels, your help would be appreciated.

Actually, that is a hard one...
On my home vacuum, we have a nozzle-change thingy, and one of the heads is a dust-sucker-uper. Not sure how well your standard vacuum would work, though.
Hmmm...
Would need to be moist, or have suction, otherwise you're just moving it (into the air and onto the floor, where it goes into the air later, anyway).
*waits for a plethora of one-line cleaner-ads*

I heard once that burning candles helps burn up the dust in the air, thus less landing on your horizontal spaces, but burning candles just increases the smoke and soot in the air, so I guess it's a trade-off?

This other website mentioned a swiffer. But isn't it a mop or something?

It's like a static-cloth/rag thing, which can be attached to "swiffer" mops (some also shoot liquid, I think). However, the swiffer itself is very useful. Dust clings to it like mad.
