Me and my dad figured as much, before the annoucement it was a scam. My mom was like "______ you should go do that!"
She was dead serious. Glad it wasn't up to her. That still seems just super wrong though, I mean, you confess expecting "amnesty" then they turn around and sue you... I'm glad someone in turn in sueing them, bout damn time

Yeah, right. And completely sacrifice any PR they have left? They're out to get you to pay for what they offer, not just stop you from pirating it.

Ok, they probably really did mean to not sue anyone if they signed up for this thing. I mean, they haven't sued anyone yet, and it would make them look like total demons to do that.
I suspect that they saw this from two angles:
1- This way they give people an "out". By offering amnesty they look like they are at least trying.
2- By saying "such-and-such many people have already come clean" they can... I dunno... it means something to someone. Maybe.
Of course, you won't see me signing up for that.
Admit to a crime? kthxno

Well, that article doesn't even say that they did sue anybody who signed up for the amnesty program; there's just some people who think they will.
