Original Title: "Computer Help"

I'm having pop-up ad problems. These stupid little message windows keep popping up, imploring me to download pop-up ad blasters or porn. They're especially annoying when I'm trying to play games, cause they just pop right up in front.

I have no idea how I got this shit. I'm very wary of what I download to my computer. I have downloaded and used Ad-aware and it hasn't helped at all (yes I updated first).

Are you using Kazaa or something like that? Some of those programs are filled with spyware.

IIRC, Ad-Aware does pick up on Kazaa's spyware.

Besides turning off Windows Messenger and getting the Google Toolbar, there's not much you can do.

No, not MSN Messenger.

MyIE is not bad at all (when it's well configured...)
No more fileplanet ads (even ezboard),or gamekult.com shitty flash (in some cases, flash sites may stop working)
And I can still surf for porn without someone telling me to get a bigger penis \o/

I know exactly what's going on.

Click on Start > Run... > Type in msconfig > click on the Services tab, look around for Messenger checkbox, and disable it. Then restart.

Secondly, you're still using IE, sren't you? Switch to Mozilla at www.mozilla.org

I think I have her on Opera, at least some of the time.

I forgot totally about messenger: I remember hearing about that and promptly killing it and forgetting about it.

Thank you Donald, Ikuse, and cfalcon. I disabled Windows Messenger and all is good. Yeah, I haven't had any problems with IE windows pop-ups in a very long time. Thanks to Opera.

Opera is kinda cool, but it's kinda bloated.

Mouse gestures? Who the frig uses those anyway?
