God, we did that for all of our teachers. Mostly re-made other songs, though.

Miss Boothby, who wore horribly clashing colours all the time, was the Rainbow song..."Red and yellow and pink and green, orange and purple and blue, I can see Miss Boothby, etc etc"

Uhmm...Mrs Chester, our P.E. teacher and form tutor in years 8 and 9... well, we remade that "Bitch" song... "She's a bitch, she's a wanker, she's a bastard, she's a fucker, she's a stupid old cow, she deserves a deckin' (POW!)"

Yes, we're totally [British], yes we were like 13 at the time of making the songs.

Mrs Szmid got a remix of Beenie Man, because she was slightly cooler, and did like...woodwork and stuff. Umm...lemme see if I can remember it.
"Szmid Szmiddy, she is a crazy old biddy,
Oh man, she screams OH BUGGER
How can I make love to a fretsaw in a rush
Pass me the bucket for my off-cuts
Oh man, put on your mask
Or you will
Inhale all the dust OH!"

Yeah, completely fucking random and totally weird.
Mrs Clemons didn't get a song in her honor, because by the time we had her as a form tutor we were all like...17 and stuff. We just took the piss out of her accent something rotten. She said "Envaaaaahrenment" and "Yurrs" instead of Environment and Years. So every time she said it, there was an echo of "EnVAAAAAAHrenment" around the room, or "My GOHD, I haven't seen that species of lizard for YURRS and YURRS and YURRS!"
"And once when I was in the Beleeeeeeeze jungle, a tree nearly fell on my head, and I could FEEEEL the adrenaline RUSHING through my VEINS, I've never run so fast in YURRS, I could've DIED."
Man, she rocked ass, though. Despite the fact that I never did any work, we got treated okay, 'cause we had jobs at the school...we looked after the lab animals. We had a bearded dragon called Gucci, she was fucking crazy...I was the only one who'd pick up the live locusts we had to feed her, so I gained Mrs C's respect for that...heh. But yeah, she used to fluctuate between being really nice to us and suddenly screaming her head off out of nowhere.

I'm pretty sure we mocked our 7th grade chemistry teacher, too, in a sordid sort of respect for her, even though she wasn't our form tutor.
That "In the Jungle" song. "In the Greenway, the mighty Greenway, the Mini Cooper roars tonight...VOUME!" (she used to say "Voume" instead of "Volume")...and she used to say "DON'T BE SO VULGAR, YEAR SEVEN!", and confiscate our correction fluid. We flicked ink up the back of her lab coat for that. The bitch.

Good times, good times. [Big Grin] [PBJ Time!]

[Edit without using the Edit button: Ah fuck, now I have "In the Jungle" in my head. A-wHEEEEE, ee-e-e-ee-ee-um-um-a-waaaay...]

for you tl;dr bastards: reminiscing, stfu.

How could it be the fault of the education system? The education is doing everything it can to fight the losing battle against ignorance. The problem is that it's cool to be ignorant in today's society. Rappers, movie stars, and athletes make a living off of being "out of touch" with reality. It's the lifestyle kids want to emulate. I have 17 year old kids wearing $250 shirts because they saw some rapper do it, yet their family is getting free lunches in school because they have no money. I don't know what to make of situations like that. I think the ignorance in today's society comes from a poor choice of role models and poor parenting.

Sorry, I'm not much of a song writer. I do have an uncle who writes music, though. Feel free to ask him to write a song for you. My Uncle's site

Why in fuck's name does the teacher spend years yelling at me, dsepite the fact that he/she knows that I understand whats going on in class and will outperform 95% of the grade regardless of whether I listen in class or not?

I mean, why pick on me? What about the dickhead that sits up the back muttering obscenities- he doesn't even know what day it is, let alone what is happening in the particular class. [Frown]

I am not disruptive; I'm just bored. Explain to me why nine out of ten teachers fail to realise this and instead of doing something constructive will spend never ending amounts of oxygen in convincing me to read Donne for the fourtieth time.

Sometimes teachers get more frustrated with a student that they know is intelligent than the brain dead losers in the back of the room. I think the level of frustration is on par with that student's potential. I used to have similar problems when I was in high school. (No, I wasn't an "A" student and I wasn't a model citizen.)

Embarrassing how? I'm embarrassed when I see a girl in a short skirt in a thong or not wearing underwear. (It does happen... often.) It's embarrassing when a school administrator walks into my room and my class is off task. It's even embarrassing when I have to explain to a mother or father why their dumbass child is failing class. (I'm more embarrassed for them.)

It’s a bet my friends have, after person two said what he said another kid said that his sentence didn't make sense because he used the word reassuring wrong even though it was sarcasm.

Since you’re a English teacher I thought you could settle this faggish argument.

dunno if it's been asked but are there rivalries between departments? some common rivalries are english vs. math, math vs. science (SOHCAHTOA = hottest debate topic), art vs. math

i know that universities have more obvious rivalries but have you had any unique experiences because of these rivalries?

Well, it appears to be used correctly... But, it doesn't make much sense. What exactly is supposed to be reassuring? And why is "sarcasm" in parenthesis? If it's good sarcasm, it should be recognizable on it's own. Hope that helps.

We don't really have any rivalries to speak of on campus. Most of us teachers get along just fine.

I really couldn't do it... I wish I could, but I think my pesky conscience would get in the way. I haven't had any students offer me a serious monetary bribe yet, but I'm sure I could resist one. I have had students offer "sexual favors" for grades, and I've managed to resist all of them, too.

although you can basically prove SOHCAHTOA with small examples drawn from each technique

Actually, I meant that I never took Trig. Since everyone seems to think that I should have already been exposed to these things, I guess I'll chalk my ignorance up to my city's public school system's notoriously inadequate math program. Just another example of the white man keeping me down.

What should a student do if their teacher is highly incompetent? Our school's Latin teacher retired and the new teacher is not qualified to teach higher level latin, as far as I can tell. We basicly quizzed him today by asking him to review some things from last year. Obviously I'll talk to my guidance counselor, but do you have any other advice?

I doubt going to a counselor will do much good. Obviously, the school administration felt the teacher was qualified to teach the class, or else they wouldn't have hired him. I think it would be unlikely that they'd remove him from his position unless he did something horrible. The way I see it, you have two options. Option one is to stick with the class and hope things get better. The teacher may just be feeling things out and may get better as he gets more comfortable. Option two is to forget about Latin and transfer into another class.

If I need help I will talk to the teacher I had at private school in ninth grade.

Sounds like a good plan to me.

My students call me "Mr. MyLastName." What else would they call me? I like it just fine... I mean, it would be cool if I could have a cool superhero name like "Mr. Galactus," or something... But I do OK being me.
Our AP Gov/Economics teacher's name was Ty Thompson. We just called him "T". Our Bio teacher we called Slush, our Physics teacher we called Rush, and our Calc teacher we called Hawk. Some of the more brave kids called our Algebra II teacher Love because that was her maiden name.

#1. I have yet to see a hot, female math teacher. I don't think they exist.

#2. Am I responsible for ruining Azure Heights with this thread?

<<I had a hot female math teacher in high school>>

Must be nice... There are only two teachers here at my school that I'd ever care to see naked. One teaches English and one is a History teacher.

if you mean disrupting the usual senseless banter, yeah. really, though, it's a decent thread. it may be the only truly informative thread the park's seen in a long time. stuff the average azurian can use. it's kinda silly hearing you say they make you feel old, though. i've got almost a year on you, and saturday morning cartoons with a spunman-sized basin of highly weetened cereal is still the highlight of my week. way i see it, if god wanted me to grow up, he would've given me girls.
