Ok, for all us cool high school snaps, lets post our schedules. Oh, and college folk can post what classes they are taking this semester or whatever. OMG THIS IS GONNA BE SO MUCH FUN!
Ok, here's my junior (high school) lineup: Per. Semester 1 / 2 1. Psychology 1 / Study Hall 2. Gym / Programming in Java 3. Alegbra 3 + Trig 4. Study Hall / Honors Prob/Stat 5. Honors Physics 1 6. Band 7. AP US History 8. English 11
Pretty much everything the highest I can take except English (no honors for me), band (I'm not good enough to be in honors band) and Java (have to take it before I can take AP Computers, though I would have been allowed to take AP Comp if I had taken Java last year. I just didn't have room in my schedule.). Ok, your turn.

I'm taking some Math class, and I don't know what it's gonna be about, but it's the next one in line, so . . . I do know the teacher is possibly the best Math teacher that has ever existed, although sometimes her accent is too thick. I'm also taking some brand-new Honors Physics class that I didn't earn my way into, but I'm buddies with the professor, so I get to go. I didn't read the course description yet. I just know it's a physics class. And Astronomy, with the same physics teacher, because I planned to take it last year, but I skipped school last year, and at the time the 2nd semester of it was Astrophysics, the only physics class at my campus. This can all be done Mon, Wed, Fri from 10am to 2pm. 12 credit hours (meaning full financial aid) and all (both) my teachers kick ass. This is gonna be the best semester ever. Basically AP>IB and thus westcoast>eastcost. Classes and tests are like easier but most colleges take that credit, long as its not your major.
0- Marching Beyand 1- Gov/Econ 2- English 3- AP music theory 4- Calc 5- Orchestra 6- Chem
Our school has block schedule so its 1:45 each of odds one day, then evens next. [ 08-19-2003, 01:23 AM: Message edited by: Wizzymoto ]

For several years now, my high school had a pretty good schedule set up. But now, the schedule is fucked up. We have one minute less between classes. We now have FUCKING HOMEROOM every fucking day. We start 3 minutes earlier, but we still leave at the same time. And I would like to beat some sense into everyone involved in that decision.
I'll probably post my schedule in a week, once I have to dig it out.

First year of university:
1- MAT1400 (yeah they don't credit IB math, but I don't care, I'm sure I can work something out) 2- IFT1214, Some intro class to computer science 3- IFT1010, Programmation 1 4- IFT1063, Structures in computer science (I have trouble translating this one :/)
I only have 2 hours of maths on friday from 8:30 to 10:30. I am NOT going to attend that, so I guess that's a 3-days weekend for me. Yay.
Also I wanted to take all the optional non-CS/math shit first semester to get rid of it, but then it would have been conflictual.

I made up my schedule because the school didn't want me to do Six AP Classes (The extra two being AP English & AP American Studies. Just so we're clear, my school's scheduling is different, and one semester is equal to one year at my school). I also got to choose who took my spot over in the class (which ended up being a friend who deserved it).

US History... that was a fun class, but only because our teacher was an ex-hippy... the only thing I learned was that he'd joined the Navy to avoid being drafted into the infantry, and then the war ended six months later and he was stuck in a 4(?) year tour.
Well, and that you should never call a spaniard a spic.

~7:30 - ~8:30 : English 101 ~8:30 - ~9:30 : IT 235 (prereq for all the interesting computer classes.) The rest will be at my high school, and nobody (including staff etc.) will know the schedules until 3 days before school starts. Then I have to get my schedule corrected (so I can take the most important classes at a time when I'm actually at the school) by my counselor because of the aforementioned college classes. Then there's the rumor that the automated system they're using to "make things easier" will mess things up badly enough that the juniors and seniors will be doing walk-around to register for classes after all. On the first day of school, rather than near the end of the previous year. Then, of course, they have to enter all of those classes into the computer system, then resolve all the conflicts with the computer-assigned schedules for the other students.

The 10% Smart people needs to be better defined.
In my school, there are about five types of people.
1) Class disruptors who do NOT try to pass, or fail hard when they do try to pass. 2) Class disruptors that pass with flying colours and end up not disrupting class, but actually adding to it while joking around. 3) Complete morons that are in the dumb people classes. They do little work and still end up gettnig second honours because of the class difficulties. 4) Smart-esque people who do about 10x more work than everyone else, and the work shows. However, these people rarely can apply their knowledge beyond what they thought would be asked in class or put on the test. They tend to excel at classes that require memorization of facts. 5) Smart people who do a decent amount of work and are also rather intelligent. These people tend to do better at applied thought classes (logics, sciences, and maths) than #4s, and may occasionally place lower in memorization classes. 6) Smart people who do relatively little work at all, but can still pass more than half of their classes by sleeping through them. If any work at all was done by them, these students would become #5s.
In our school, we've got three levels, AP/Advanced (for classes w/o AP tests) College prep (below AP level) and College option (probably not going to college).
In the college option classes about 25% are #1s, 60% #3s, and probably one or two #4s that simply did not have the gift of intelligence genes. The only ones worth existing would be the few #4s.
In college prep classes you've got about 10% #1s, 5% #2s, 75% #3s, about 10% #4s who were not quite up to the AP level or chose to have a guaranteed A rather than possibly get a B and face the wrath of their parents.
In AP/Advanced level, I can tell you about the number of each type. We have 0 #1s.
We have about 4-5 #2s, with two (twins, in fact) that everyone in the class knows and likes. Comparison of these two would be the Weasly twins in Harry Potter. Notably, in english class, when analyzing poetry, they found a pirate theme in every single poem.
We have about 6-7 #3s who pass barely by clumping together and participating in group-cheating.
We have too goddamned many #4s. I want them to die, because of their attitude, despite the fact that I've yet to find a flaw in them.
We've got about 3 #5s. One of my best friends is one of them.
We've got about 3 #6s. One of my other good friends is one of them, as well as myself. If I had even an ouce of willpower, I've been told that I could be a #5.

Your #4's will still do pretty good in college, because they know how to work hard for grades.
Your #5's will do really really really well in college.
Your #6's, well. See, high school didn't prepare them well enough for college. Cause see, college requires you to do actual work. And these people haven't had to truly study in their life. Some of them may flunk out. Some may just do not as well as they really should (this was me). And the some that are truly talented will be able to pull good grades, but maybe only after a shocking first semester at college.
I am a 6. cfalcon is a 5, and probably had tendencies towards 6 in some stupid classes with stupid teachers. Don't ever ask him to memorize something and spit it back at you. Won't work. My best friend in high school, Magan, she's a 4. She ended up being an English major because she's not math/science oriented. I think she ended up with something very near a 4.0 in college.
I think #4's would be in Hufflepuff and #5's would be in Ravenclaw. Not like I think about that stuff all the time or anything.
EDIT: Not all #5's would be in Ravenclaw. The evil ones would be Slytherin. Like cfalcon. 'Tis why I bought him his very own Slytherin t-shirt. Maybe for Christmas I'll get him a green and silver scarf. [ 08-20-2003, 03:35 PM: Message edited by: pkthunder ]

I am a mixture between #5 and #6.
In other words, if I forced myself to work more my results might increase of 3-5%, and that's not worth it. So I basically work much less than everyone else and obtain higher results. Except in CS where I work a lot more than them out of pure motivation (except that I work to program the elitest stuff I can, whereas they work to actually understand the subject )

I'm a #2. (Or possibly a #2/#6)
I'm going to flunk my first year of university.
Because I'm one of those people who can fall asleep and somehow the knowledge imparted on me during a lesson osmoses into my brain and I know it. And I'm brilliant at pulling stuff outta my ass in an exam. (Read: No work all year, no cramming just before exams, nothing. I got three A grades and a C - the C was English Lit and I knew I wouldn't do well because I didn't even read the books and they were closed text.)
University, dunno about over there but over here it's lectures. They don't -teach- you stuff, they ramble for a while and then you go away and learn and read on your own. I will not do this. I will listen in the lectures for the first week then use them as extra sleeping time, go away and party/D&D (equal amounts) til the small hours, catch a couple of hours' kip and smeck off to lectures on nothing but six gallons of coffee. Every day. For three years.
So...I'm predicting either I get a first out of sheer luck, or I kick myself into gear and get a first out of pure work. Or, I do what I usually do and get a 2:1 via innate intelligence and the ability to blag my way through.
Or of course I could fail miserably <--most likely.

I helped the Freshmen today. I made fun of them in my mind because they had to run through teachers in order to hide away on the bleachers of the gym.

My friend who is also in Calculus 3 thinks I'm screwed because I'm taking this class without taking Calculus 1 and 2 before. I hope he's wrong... ![[Frown]](frown.gif)

This semester,
Macroeconomics (honours) Information Systems Accounting Econometrics
The Macro course is a preparation for an honours in that subject, but whatever.
I'm probably in between 4 and 5, but at science i am not the smart.

Also 3M sounds purty smart, but so do most of y'all. My college entrance hopes are downgraded.
It's a requirement for International Baccalaureate. From what I can tell, so far it's just "Philosophy for Dummies". Rigorous course, my ass.
I'm a junior, for reference.
Also, I'm somewhere between #2 and #6, but I can pull a #5 when I actually care enough to (which is seldom).

I'm definitely a #6. I'd be a #2, but the only lessons I fuck around in generally are the ones where I can get the teacher to crack up occasionally.
I do not intend on failing in any capacity at university, because I'm going to start taking some fucking pride in my work. Once you get into uni it's a lot more proving your own abilities and a lot less getting the correct ticks in the correct boxes.

Definitely interesting to see the varying schedules. Its really interesting to see how things are done at other schools, as far as number of periods, classes offered, etc.
My senior year is going to be much more difficult than my junior year. Hmm... I dunno how many of you will care, but I'll add my freshman and sophomore schedule and my projected senior schedule. Maybe some of you will find it interesting how it differs from your school... I know I would.
We'll do it by category. 9th -> 10th -> 11th -> 12th
Geometry -> Algebra 2 -> Algebra 3/Trig -> AP Calculus
English 9 -> English 10 -> English 11 -> English 12(maybe Honors 12)
Latin 2 -> Spanish 1 -> None -> None
Honors Geography -> AP European History -> AP US History -> AP Economics (Macro and Micro)
Biology 1 -> Chemistry 1 -> Honors Physics 1 -> AP Physics
Microsoft Office* -> Programming in C++ -> Prog. in JAVA -> AP Computers
Random Electives Intro to Transportation/Engineering (9th) Public Speaking* (10th) Gym* (9-12th) Psychology 1 (11th) Health* (10th) Band (9-12th, possibly Honors Band in 12th) Honors Prob/Stat (11th)
*Required elective for graduation
Yeah, I think thats all. My school requires us to have 7 credits per year until our senior year, when we can have 6.5. I had 7.5 credits freshman year, 8 credits sophomore (maximum), 7 credits this upcoming year, and I think I'll probably only take 6.5 senior year due to the difficulty of my classes. But maybe not. High school freshman. OH YES.
Period 1: None (7 AM; the only stuff they offer here is for upperclassmen who don't go anyway. Really smart.) Period 2: PE Requirement Period 3: French 3 (French classes at my school go to 6, but no one takes it after AP fourth year.) Period 4: Biology H (it's actually easier than the non-honors class.) Period 5: US History/ Geography Period 6: Algebra II/ Trig Period 7: English I (My teacher requested me. Because she thinks I am a depressed freak who requires her emotional support. ! What a retard.)
I go to a 6-year nerd school, so most of the people are #4s. Or complete morons who do a shitload of work and get pity As.
omfg i used to be a 4 but then i caught the lesiban jerms lol
