Sexy.
Does anyone own one of these/has gotten to play on one before? I'm trying to score one for my birthday at the end of August (love these birthday posts) and I'm looking for information from "real" "people". ~Uiru

cfalcon has my renewed respect.
Even though I wouldn't go near a 64DD with a ten foot pole.
It's 'only' $300 US, and if I pull this off I get it for free. At worst, I'm a capitalistic fanboy. :D It beats the hell off the $5500 US price tag that comes with DDR Extreme arcade machines (even though I have space in my house for one of those :D~~), and is also better than paying $45 US every year for a new soft pad, which aren't perfect under the best of circumstances.
Or, rather, it's better to say that they are perfect for about four or five weeks and then they go straight to hell. ~Uiru [ 07-30-2003, 04:55 PM: Message edited by: Uiru ]

I've used one a couple of times at a friend's house. They're the best homepads, without a doubt. Plus, I could go back and play the arcade version and not get the arrow distances confused like I did with the soft pads.
But they're fucking $300. Good lord.

the red octane soft pads are pretty good. my friend owns the ignition pad, the top of the line one, and it hardly ever moves
if it weren't for his little cousin who sat on it for 4 hours playing PS2, it woulda been fine
but those are good to me: a good value, comfortable and i think they throw in the non-slip grip cover, a good plus when you're playing with socks on.
but buy the cobalt flux if you're serious i guess, since the soft pads might throw you off. question though: how much for shipping & handling and how "constructed" is it when it arrives?

Dunno how constructed it is, but it can't be that difficult. Most of the electronics are in an external box that plugs in. And there don't seem to be assembly instructions on the site. As for shipping, it's $50 USD. O_O So we're looking at $480 CDN unless the exchange rate has risen/fallen. ~Uiru

I would suggest the BeatGear metal pads.

Biffster's insight is incredible. I'm taking a girl to play that song on Saturday.
Yeah, I'm not gonna mind the lack of bags of cash I usually get before school/university starts. I would play this game every day if the crappy soft pads would ever work for more than a few weeks. ~Uiru

Those are the best pads ever. I played on them a few times at an anime con...it'd be nice to have two of those things... There is a nice soft pad, too. I forget who makes it, but it's probably the one daywalker is talking about. It's cushioned, and very nice to play on. Not too much cheaper than those metal ones though. ![[Embarrassed]](redface.gif)

BeatGear Note: Many (all?) of the BeatGear links on the site don't work. Too bad really.

the RedOctane pads i'm talking about cost like $100 for the expensive Ignition pad and $40 (apparently a sale is going on) for the cheaper soft pad. Mind you, these aren't the shitty soft pads, but soft in that they have foam cushioning.
expensive pad:
cheaper pad:
and i saw on their site they have a $200 metal pad. it comes fully assembled, but you can only get it ground shipped, which means major $$$
