...saving people from being bored that much further out of their skulls by trying to read the thread.
"OMG zeldo rulz u no!!?!"
The "unpopular games you like" thread had better potential, 'cause then at least you might come across a recommendation you haven't heard a million fucking times before. Though iirc ppl got side tracked by debates about what counts as popular.

Mario 3 was overrated, cfalcon just watched too much "The Wizard".
Mario 2 does Mario 3's girlfriend in the ass and she loves it, while Mario 3 watches and cries softly into it's pillow. Afterwards Mario 2 steals Mario 3's car and crashes it into a toystore, and then races up and down the aisles with shopping carts. When the police arrive long after Mario 2 is gone, Mario 3 is blamed, and nobody believes it's testimony because it sucks.

SMB2 is fucking Doki-Doki Panic with a Mario facelift and no fucking Goombas and Koopas to stomp, i.e. a halfassed attempt at a new Mario game, but still mildly enjoyable because of the Shy-Guys and Bob-ombs. The real SMB2 in Japan was new extra-fucking-hard levels of SMB1 with the added fun of poisoned Mushrooms. Not nearly as halfassed, but not that great either, and too hard to be enjoyable. SMB3 took the elements of all three of those games (SMB1, SMB2J & SMB2USA) and combined it all into a kick ass game that went in new directions.

Well, as far as Mario games go, I mentioned in the other thread that my favorite was Paper Mario. Then my second will be Mario RPG. But in terms of standard Mario fare, 3 will always, always reign supreme.

I was going to say Mario 3, but I guess I was too late.
Zelda Ocarina of Time and Mario 3 are my favorite RPG games.
My favorite Multi-player games are smash bro's and goldeneye.
Best FPS is perfect dark.
Most addictive and my favorite strategy is Civilization 3.
GTA vice city is my favorite game from all the latest game systems.

Yeah, I know it wasn't a real mario game. I don't really like mario games; the environment bores me, as I was spoiled by the supreme strangeness of C64 indie games. SSMB2, however, was bizarre enough to make an impression on me, and I loved the enemies and the ducking into magic-dimension pots and pulling up rocketships and the movie cameras(?) that shoot fireballs and the transsexual egg-spitting whatthefuckeveritis and so on. Also ostrich riding. Granted, I like the ghosts and the thwomps and the furious sun and pipe world from SMB3, but it's JUST NOT ENOUGH. With older games, being as surreal as possible is a big selling point to me. I realize that stomping a grumpy mushroom the size of a hot tub is no longer commonplace in today's society, but somehow it still seems so plain.
On a completely unrelated note I also totally forgot about Blaster Master. The premise is so wacky. If I found me a free super tank and power suit, I'd be all about the robo-assisted lovin' and maybe a few mall appearances. I certainly wouldn't delve into mechabeehive hidden lava-cave world of infinite pain looking for my fucking pet frog. ...I guess the second one makes a better game though. A really good game, in fact.

I might sound like a heretic, but I can’t decide which Mario game I like best.
My favourite Mario games are (without the RPG and other spin-off series):
Super Mario 2 Super Mario 3 Super Mario World Super Mario 64 Super Mario Sunshine
Every game had something appealing, that other Mario games didn;t have.
2 had the pipes, bosses, surrealism etc. 3 had the suits, worlds, flutes etc. World had the cape, Yoshis, secrets etc. 64 had the castle, epic feeling, cannons etc. Sunshine had the holiday feeling, FLUDD, etc.
I just can decide. I love em all.

Dude, 2 had vases, not pipes.
And why the hell isn't the first one on your list?

Oh yeah... ah well, vases, pipes... pretty much the same. Guess I played a bit too much Mario
1? I dunno... I guess because everything that was great in 1, was also part of 3. Besides, Castle 4 and World 8 traumatized me.

I dunno. I missed the tactile pleasure of causing Bowser (or his minions disguised as him) to plummet into the searing hot lava when you chopped the bridge supports by touching the axe. But yeah, I can see why you'd leave 1 off since it's incorporated into 3. Personally, I just can't let go of such a great classic.

Yeah… that’s true. BTW, I always wondered what that axe thing was. It couldn’t be a real axe… mama mia! I always jumped right into that thing…
Not that I don’t love the game. It’s indeed a classic. That’s why I bought the DX version for the GBC. But one of my fav’s? :S

It was sort of a surreal experience to take DX and plug it into my GameBoy Player to play on the GameCube.
I kinda wish there was some way to expand the screen back out again.
Man, I hope Nintendo releases SMB1 on e-Card.

Yea, that stupid thing pisses me off...
Ok, so I buy the DX GAME and I buy the GCN and I by the GB PLAYER and it's ALMOST as good as if I just plugged in my goddamn NES.

Other than the NES, I think the only other way to get SMB1 full screen would be to unlock it in Animal Crossing. Of course, I haven't touched AC in months, and you have to have the right e-Card to do it.
I hope Nintendo throws us a bone and hides it in Super Mario Advance 4. But of course that's only wishful thinking. Instead, they'll just give us fucking Mario Bros. again, which is retarded since Mario Bros. was programmed into SMB3 to begin with. I wonder how they're gonna work that.

Well, they'll fuck it up somehow.
They are bound and determined to fuck that game up, because it's a rare virgin untouched piece of true greatness.
I even predicted that they would work the E-card reader into it, and they actually have.
My logic at the time was "that would make it really suck".
