Seconded.
Pirates of the Caribbean, on the other hand, was better than I expected it to be (and better then the previews would indicate.) The allusion to the ride was not overdone.
I don't expect that the "Haunted Mansion" movie will be nearly as well executed. It's a nice idea, but I don't think Disney needs a 1:1 correspondence betwen movies and rides. I refuse to think about what an "It's a Small World" ride would be like.

Ups:

+Good crossover (not allowed under today's rules)
+Nemo fucking rules, he is the boss of you.
+Characters managed to not be as cheesy as they actually are.

Downs:

-Anti-technology message silly.
-Silly bonus American
-Nemo didn't have any good parts. They didn't give him much soul except to make him mysterious (acceptable, given his name). There's one scene where Connery and American-pretty-boy are on top of the nautilus. Connery is practicing shooting bobbing things that Nemo is shooting out of a bobbing thing shooter. A scene commences where Connery and Sissy are talking, and it becomes clear that Connery kind of views Pansy-fuck as as surrogate son. The scene ends with a bit of emptiness, and I expected Nemo to offer some advice, given that he is smarter than all of them. But he doesn't.
-Nautilus is at least half a mile long. Nautilus is about ten stories high. All good so far. Nautilus surfaces from a harbor that couldn't have held it, and sails through Venice. Venice, where there are canals. They sail a submarine that is taller than many of the Venetian buliding through it. They do this by having it totally surfaced. Ok, fine, whatever. The dumb part? HOW DOES IT TURN IT'S HALF A MILE LONG.

Overall, I liked it, because it's basically a superhero movie.

You know that scene with the vampire chick when she sucks a dude for the very first time in front of everybody and then starts licking her fingers? I almost creamed myself -- that was hot.

Also cool was Dorian Gray -- Taken directly from The character from the story "The Portrait of Dorian Gray" by that one famous author guy (forget his name... picturing his face...) in which Dorian was immortal exactly like in the movie.

I wondered where he was from.

SPOILERS

NO REALLY SPOILERS

IMA TELLIN U!!!!121

Ok, why didn't he tell the vampire girl his plight? Sure, it's bad to betray your friends and a few hundred cohorts just to save your own skin, but it makes some sense- it means you didn't do it for profit, you did it for self-preservation- you had no choice.

I’m just glad the whole movie wasn’t based around Sean Connery, and that the other characters were just as important in saving the world as he was.

Another big plus was using a gang of supernatural heroes rather than recruiting a group of men with lame special talents or a bunch of comic book superheroes.

Didn't see it, but Ebert was making fun of the fact that there was a car chase through the streets of Venice. And all the Nautilus size issues.

Sucks, because Nemo is a great fucking character.

Has anyone read the original comics? Did they have all these problems inherently, or did Hollywood fuck it up the way they fucked up Hulk?

This was a Hollywood fuck-up for sure. We can start with the fact that Mina Harker was actually team leader in the comics. That alone should tell you that they've made this story too Hollywood for it's own good, because they were obviously trying to appeal to the lowest common denominator while making this movie.

According to le geeques par excellence over at SA who read the comics, the film fucked them up terribly.

And come on, an Oscar Wilde character as a superhero just doesn't SOUND right.

I hear people actually call the movie, "The League of Extremely Old People". I actually think the title is suiting. Then again, I've never seen it, so I have no right to actually say that.

I found Sissy to be unnessessary. But otherwise, it was more or less good. Of course, I didn't pay to get in. I was too busy paying to play Love Shine over and over on our Extreme machine. Maybe if I paid to get in, I'd be a little more critical, but I've seen free movies that utterly blew goats before.

- Peta Wilson was hot. Most definately, and Nemo was teh own.

- I thought the ending was funny in the way the crazy witch doctor guy danced. MYABE THERE WILL BE SEQEULL>??

- Hyde's CG looked 100x than the Hulk's

- Nautilus was a fucking sweet ship. But like stated before, too fucking big.

- Overall, good. I'd see it again. I don't really give a fuck about plots in movies like this, so it didn't bother me.
