I know I'm a bit behind, but I've been living in Sweden for the last 8 months without my GCN, so I need to do a bit of catching up.
I also play Counter-Strike *runs* But it's hard to play in Australia because everyone has faggy dial-up modems which fucks up all the servers.
I've just got some money so I'll probably geting a new game soon.

I just won a computer/arcade game tournament that was held after my A+ certification class. Did mediocre at Worms, terrible at Serious Sam, and 0wnz0red everyone at Joust and Frogger. Tied for first with 11 points, so we had a playoff. Joust again, 2 player this time, and I won (with the help of a strangely biased pterodactyl). Then we played Marvel VS Capcom, and my opponent just mashed buttons randomly while I frantically tried to remember how to do the special moves (he managed to do it several times, despide never having played before). It was really close, but I lost. The last game was Metal Slug 3. Fortunately, I had played it once before and remembered a few things, so I managed to score nearly twice what my opponent did. So, I won a $10 giftcard for Gamestop. If the class continues to stay ahead of schedule, we might get to have another tournament next week. I'm looking forward to it.

Before this eternal gaming, I played SSB:M, but I found no one worthwhile to play against, so I stopped. That isn't to say I got rusty though, because no matter how long I stop a game, my skill stays. =D

The only 'platform' that I own is a GBA SP, because it's hard to get quality sidescrollers on the current batch of systems. The GBA SP allows me to get my 8/16 bit era fix with little cost to myself. As you may have guessed already, I am not a fan of the 3D revolution. I could say that it is because I'm 'oldskool', but I know it is just because I'm obsolete.
I am currently playing Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, trying to get through the game on HARD, NOSOUL, and using NO ITEMS or equipment. It is likely not humanly possible, but it's the last thing for me to do. If I can do it, I suppose I'll reach Castlevania Nirvana. Then I should be able to float, make sculptures out of butter, and openly defy the Chinese, just like those little Tibetan dudes.
I'm sure my newfound talents with butter sculpture will serve me well if I ever travel to the United States of FAT FUCKING PIGS. For exhibits and whatnot.
So as you can see, playing this game is all a part of my career plan.

If you're willing to pay the price PSO is very fun. But alone its merely an average, possibly boring title. And I hope Mario Kart will be online as well.

uh yeah, you need to explain how $100 for a pocket-SNES with games that run $30 a pop that look, sound, and play nowhere near as well as $40-50 games on consoles that either cost the same (GCN) or run $80 more and come with DVD players is "little cost."
don't get me wrong, I love my GBA and have been known to bust out Kart on the shit whenever I get a minute in public, but you're lying to yourself if you think it's a good value or any of that shit. it's not.

Oh, I know that, objectively, it's a ripoff. I've been disillusioned with game/console manufacturers since forever. The thing is that, to me, it seems cheap because when I was but a sprout, games for the original gameboy (which were mostly bad) ran about the same price. I would go to my local Toys R Us or whatever, pick up my sparkly new copy of Battle Unit Zeoth, and fork out 30-40 bucks. Within 4 hours it would be beaten and I'd be forced to play outside with other humans like a CHUMP. Of course I never learned, but it was the only game in town, basically, so what could I do?
So in terms of value, it seems good to me, but it's because I'm so used to being jerked around that just about anything looks good. I'm not blind, I do have the underlying feeling that Nintendo (and everyone else, but mostly Nintendo) are just huge fuckers. I think their market practices (especially in the 90s) in the Americas and Europe might just be because they hate whitey. Fortunately, my big round eyes can see through their slanty yellow deceptions. Unfortunately, I can't be bothered to care very much.

Cost is independent of the value received for the expenditure. If you pay $1 for an orgasm-causing sandwich or $1 for a moldy bug sandwich served in a dirty ashtray, the cost is still a dollar in each case. Therefore questioning Brayze's assertion by denigrating the relative or absolute value of GBA games is pointless.
There would be little point in questioning it even if her assertion had been about the relative or absolute value of GBA games, because the value she gets in return for their cost includes the fun of playing them, which is subjective.
