What music do you guys listen to? I have this image of everyone here blaring Linkin Park as they cry into a pillow every afternoon after school. And Good Chalotte. No offense, but it would be gay if you guys did that. Also this topic is not about Ru/Sa music.

Heh... I like a lot of the same stuff you guys do, except not the BeeGees, EVER, and I also like a lot of Deep Ellum bands- Slow Roosevelt and such.

And HEY I LIKE GOOD CHARLOTTE! "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" is a very cool song. Their first album sucked, though.

And, uh, I like South FM. A lot. Maybe too much.

Edit: Also, Hotel California gives me nightmares.

For me it's one end of the spectrum to the other

from Nirvana and Metallica to The Proclaimers and Crash Test Dummies

I also highly recommend Seether, a group from South Africa.

I heard them live when they were on tour with Our Lady Peace a few months back, fucking awesome. They are sound a bit like Nirvana, but that's in a good way, not in a Creed sounds like Pearl Jam way

I'd be hard pressed to call the Proclaimers rock. I probably should have thrown some better examples like Cherry Poppin Daddies which is more along the lines of swing. Basically if it sounds good I'll give it a listen, I'm not terribly picky. I just can't give decent examples

the most dissapointing thing to happen to music is the so-called "return of rock" with the "the" bands (the hives, the strokes, etc.). it seems like there are only 2 rock bands that came out pretty recently and that's CKy (a lot of their stuff is rock) and Queens of the Stone Age (an ok band, but not one i call myself a fan of).

true, and all of this pop-punk. i remember when punk was poltical, anti-establishment, and had a message, whether it was about sniffing glue, or anarchy. i knew punk was dead, but this is making it spin in it's grave.

Oh, and to stay on topic:
Beethoven (Sixth symphony. 'Nuff said.)
Mozart
Rachmoninoff
Lifehouse (Don't look at me like that.)
Utada Hikaru
Weird Al Yankovic
Theory of a Deadman
Smash Mouth
The Offspring
Great Big Sea
Various japanese stuff (Just communication! ^________^)
Various videogame music. [Big Grin]

I'm sick of all these people complaining about the recent resurgence of punk. Punk sucked, and it still does. Since there was nothing defining punk as it were, anything can come up and call themselves punk. Just like that. You just can't find the similarities between, say, Good Charlotte and the Sex Pistols (well, aside from the accent). Because you refuse to acknowledge them, doesn't mean that the similarities don't exist.

i remember when punk was poltical, anti-establishment, and had a message blah blah...

Yes. I remember when that one band was singing about rich people and how they're always complaining about how humble they are. Oh, wait, I keep hearing it on the radio, every five minutes. I heard a similar song years ago. And before that. Punk is the unchenged, and it's still horrible.

and btw, Otep > Opeth [Big Grin]

Why does everyone here like metal? I'm just wondering, I've never heard of these bands until you guys brought them up. None of my friends at home or at school listen to any of this metal stuff. I'm just curious. Is it common among Internet people to listen to metal? I've seriously never met anyone IRL that likes any of these bands you guys are talking about.
