Yesterday, we got DSL Broadband. It's a damn sight better than 56k, so don't skit. Anyway, I was really excited about all the things I was going to download. I connected it all up, got everything working, hurrah, it's great. You know what? Sod's law hath dictated this. I can't think of anything to download. NNNG. Any recommendations, animé-wise? I downloaded part of a subbed Gundam X episode, and that's about it.

Porn. Lots and lots of porn. Half of the reason why I was asking for DSL for so long was because I was sick of jacking off to images and not movies and that it took so goddamned long to download pics even.

Anime, it's all about Rurouni Kenshin, Azumanga Daioh, Love Hina, Akira, Gundam Wing (get Endless Waltz omg), and since Zerot would rave about it anyway and I still haven't seen it, Evangelion.

You know something? Why don't we create our own azure heights public FTP server or something like that. That way when we find a ROM or something really neat we can upload it. I mean, most of us have broadband these days... why not?

If it started getting hammered we could assign user names and passwords, etc... anyone think this is a decent idea?

Decent idea, yes.

Unfortunately, it probably wouldn't work. For one, the bandwidth usage would go through the roof, probably moer than allowed by the server. Secondly, there's the issue of protected/copywritten materials. As most of the stuff put on our FTP would be copywritten, the owners could attack us and have the site shut down, as opposed to through filesharing, where the files are not kept on a public server. Perhaps having something like that open for only putting something up for a set time, like an hour or so...

Oh well, this goes under the "ask K so he can shoot it down" list of ideas. Nice idea anyways.

Well, the FTP doesn't have to be just on the UM servers, could be private so no "owner" besides K could shut it down... uses board usernames and passwords to prevent other fools from bitching about whatever we put on it. K's registration screening process would help guard against people who would sign up just to see what we got and whine about it.
