This game is great. And unless your computer is older than 4 years, it'll run really well on it. I had never played this game before last October, then I got it from my brother for Christmas, and have been having a blast with it ever since. Anyway -- if you hadn't ever played before (like I had) you should best consider it. It is a really cool game.

(Admittadly this topic should have been posted 3 years ago -- but I was too busy playing Pokémon at the time)

I played it last night with some friends from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM and got myself sick from lack of sleep.

Good times, man. Good times.

blizzard games are so fuckin cool.

all you gotta try out now is Warcraft 3.

if you like RTS, expect this to be just as addicting as any mmorpg.

I had a lot of fun with WarCraft 2, but I don't know if I want to lay down $40 bucks for 3 (and I doubt my computer could run it very well). I watched a guy I wrote a program with play it and it looked pretty cool -- it just didn't seem like my type of game. The cinematics and graphics were really cool -- just wasn't my cup of tea. However, hose giant tree monsters were pretty sweet looking (and so are the noises they make -- like snapping deadwood everytime they move).

I wonder how long til Diablo 3? I guess we're gonna have to wait for the next StarCraft (then the cycle will start over again?). Blizzard games sure are worth the wait, though.

Diablo 2 RoXoRz. My Werewolf Druid is lots of fun to play. [Cool]

hehe, so i'm guessing you like those online rpg's.

dunno about diablo3, but, i can tell you one game you'll like: "World of Warcraft"

that my friend, will ruin lives (as far as addiction goes [Smile] )

i wanna be either a dwarf, undead, or an elf. =P.

if war3 isn't your type of game, hopefully you'll like WoW.

Starcraft > Warcraft 3. Even though RTS games aren't completely my fancy, SC is much better.

At least I can tell whats happening in SC.

But D2 is fun, although seems a bit elitist, as your nothing unless you have the best of the bestest items.

only kids that suck at war3 say sc is better.

it's a completely different game, and newer, why you are even COMPARING sc to war3 is beyond me.

though it's a matter of opinion i guess. -_-

sorry, just had to let that out, as i'm a pretty big warcraft 3 player..even played beta, so can't let that go un-noticed. [Smile]

D2's fucking brilliant..and I don't know why? After you beat it on Normal you'd think that you'd get bored of the CLICK CLICK CLICK gameplay, but I can't get enough of D2. Never tried out all the patches though.

I wouldn't say that it'd run well on older computers..it chugs on mine and mine's only a year old. Sure, it's only_just_good enough to run BF1942 but it was pretty new when D2 came out.

As to the other issue, War3 was the first RTS that I really got into. I didn't really like SC, but that's probably b/c my microing is shit.

I won the game on normal with an amazon with the worst distribution of skills imagineable and so I started over with this druid that's gonna be a pure summoner & werewolf. I got to act 2 and then accidentally misplaced a skill point so I started over.... that's kind of pathetic [Embarrassed]

Diablo 2 runs pretty well with my g4 400 mhz w/ 32 pci radeon. I think it'll be the last game that this machine will be able to run well, though.

Anyone play with an assassin? Seems as though you'd be switching to your various hot keyed attacks about 10 times a minute...

We should organize a game sometime. I guess it might be tricky since wveryone is at different levels, but it would be pretty fun.

D2 is, indeed, overly sexy. And while it is pretty damned elitist item-wise, i find that it's possible to get by with mid-level items, though i am slowly doing better. And off of what Gonk said, if you can get past the fact that its mostly click-click-click and see all the damned strategy, you'll get hooked. Hell, i've been playing pretty much since LoD came out.

I also plan to get wc3 soon :-o jeebus, not that i'm already on the fucking computer too much or anything...

I just D2 from a friend about a week ago and I have got to say it is the most addictive game I've ever played. I went with the sorceress, but I'm wishing that I had chosen the necromancer or druid. My friend plays as the assassin and it looks pretty awesome.

While I've wasted many a late night/early morning playing but it's nothing compared to my one buddy who played for 14 hours straight this weekend (on my computer, damn him).

I've got a L50 Necromancer and L50 Amazon, the former being my best character.

It sucks not being able to kick ass yourself, but it's just satisfying to "be a bit slow" with the curses and watch your friends die. This one time, my friend was bitching at me b/c I kept using Terror, so as soon as we got into a skirmish I just sat back and watch him get packraped.

I have a level 82 Burizon, and a level 54 Overlord Necro.

If anyone wants to duel with Necro armies, I'm up for a challenge, as my Necro has:

38 Skeleton Mastery
33 Skeletons
35 Skeleton Mages
16 Revives
L16 Iron Golem w/ L16 Golem Mastery

Bwahahaha. Once I get a Golemlord's Circlet I can have like 41 Skeleton Mastery [Razz]

I think it's 108 skill points... not sure though..

I've only been on battle.net twice (US East). Both times kind of sucked because everyone else steals the gems and stuff the second that they drop and nobody shares.

I'm gonna start up a werebear Druid tonight and meet up with my brother who lives in Kansas.

It would be cool if everyone who wanted to would start up a new character so that everyone could party together. Or we could just set up a game and have people meet up.

Can someone explain why some people create the battle.net characters? What are the advantages of having a player that you can't play offline with?

Also - Do the levels go up to 50 or 100?

You play online to be able to party and trade with others. You can do that with open characters too, but i strongly recommend only doing so with many friends. And, while there are oh so many hacks on closed, there are so many more on open. yeah.

Levels go to 99, mercenaries to 98. k.
