Do you really think that if we killed Hitler, Staline, and all the other fuckheads who killed hundreds of millions people, there would never have been any genocides?
Go back in time, kill Hitler, and watch someone else take his place. Maybe it wouldn't have been a German, maybe it would have been some mentally diseased French or Italian, I dunno.

I voted no as well, even though that would be a most excellent neck to wring. I even reject Flourine's arguement, but only because it's bullshit the way it's presented. Does he mean it's inevitable because people are mean, Jews were universally loathed, or because it was "meant to occur"?
Antisemitism was a pretty popular thought process, especially when it was obvious that people with a ton of money had gotten greedy, and, in attempting to make even more money, caused or contributed to a worldwide economic collapse. Sure, it wasn't the fault of some Jewish collective, but they sure were in a lot of banks, and hey, don't they still have money while we're selling these fucking apples?
Given that sentiment, I could have come up with a great racist party that- wait for it- did not involve genocide. In fact, most of the racists here in the US at the time (like Ford and friends) were not *nearly* as crazy as the Nazis.
To top it off, you have to remember that Hitler was *very* persuasive. I keep forgetting that most people only know that Hitler == devil is true, so when I used the exclamation "Yea, if he had Hitler's charisma" I got flack until myself and the other intellectual in the room explained exactly what that meant. One thing that bugs me is that when you see the footage of Hitler these days it's never meant to be flattering, and they usually just show him yelling. Hitler was an imposing mother. He got a nation that was totally on its rump to threaten the entire world, and that is quite an accomplishment. Without him, there would still have been a Nazi party, and it might even have risen to power... but I doubt it would have accomplished either the heights or the depths it did under Hitler's mad control.
The question is, would the world be better off without WWII, the sensless obliteration of millions, and change? Well, I don't know. I don't know if it would be better for me, for America, or for humans in general. I don't know what would have happened with nuclear weapons. I don't know what would have happened economically, politically. I don't even know if more innocents might have ended up dead in the world without Hitler.
But your question does make an assumption: that we are in front of the time machine deciding. Then I wouldn't.
But if I was *already* back in time, knowing what I know now... If I actually had the chance...

I only wish I had half of the charisma of Hitler and a quarter of the intelligence of Goebbels. That way I'd be able to state my opinion and be right almost every time.
Both were brilliant men. So was a whole bunch of famous mobster dudes. Arafat is a pure PR genius. Bill Gates is at the forefront of running the computer industry.
Just because they're pure evil, it doesn't mean that they have good qualities. Given that, if these guys were to use their brainpower for good instead of bad, think about how much different it would be.
Not voting, but I generally stick with the devil I know than the devil I don't. Such a hypothetical question is absolutely mind-bogglingly hard to answer.

First read my signature. I dont think war should destroy the human race so hence killing Hitler for crimes he did commit yet would make us the bad guy. He did not commit them YET. There can not be any punishment for crimes that did not yet occur. Now do I think that natural selection should govern wether or not the human race survives? Yes. I honestly think we should keep the human population in check. When we become ridiculously over populated we should have a human hunting season. (This excludes the HOTTT girls and the incredibly inteligent children.) If your I.Q. is below 120 you die. Race and religion should not affect who dies. I.Q. should. If 3 billion dumbasses die due to a violent planetary earthquake (wishful thinking) then im ok with that. Im sorry if thats cruel but from a survival standpoint its quite a good idea. The slow cave man that was trying to get away from the saber tooth tiger didnt have kids of his own. Nowdays the kid that swallows too many marbles doesnt grow up to have children of his own. Its kinda good someone once in a while thinks of a way to keep the human population in check. Even though it was majorly fucked up. I guess im torn on the issue but the point is tha you can not pass sentence on crimes that have not occured yet.
