This is what I think. I was wondering if anyone else felt the same way.

In G/S/C a mint berry is a cure for sleep. In hotels, the maids sometimes leave mints on your pillow. Do you think this is where it's meaning comes from?

Sometimes on TV when people try to wake someone up they put a strong smelling item right by their noses, usually that salt stuff. I think in this case it is mint. That's my theory. :bows:

That only uses half of the word. Granted it could be a "Mint" berry, but that still dont explain the Bery part....

TGD, that would be true if Mint Berries weren't used up after one use. Jynx can use Lovely Kiss twice and it's probably going to work both times.

Also, anything that ended in "Berry" was a "Nut" in the Japanese versions, according the the guides I read.

I remember the all of the translations having everything being a nut.

Still, "Peppermint of Nut" seems just a little strange...

I think that mints have some meaning/use in Japan that aren't in the U.S.

A translated Japanese song "Let's Gotsumon, Pumpmon" basically says "If we get sleepy, we'll have mint gum".

Who here has mint gum to stay awake? Maybe it's the flavor...

Have any of you ever been eating Fruit Drops (Japanese candy) and tossed one into your mouth only to find that it was MINT and *not* fruit flavored? *That* is enough to wake ME up! ^_^

D'OH! Now that I've had some sleep, I suddenly remembered that I messed up the possessive order.

"Nut of Peppermint" makes alot more sense. Still not something one normally sees, but neither are pokemon, so that makes some sense.
