Hi,

My daughters Pokemon Blue game, at times, will not have a "Continue" option on the intitial menu after she has played the game for a while - saved the game and turned it off.

When she turns the game on again, as I said, there is no option for "Continue" and is forced to start a "New Game" all over again - what gives here - as I know she does not tinker with her gameboy color. If anyone can help my tearful daughter get out of this problem I would dearly like to hear their advice.

This game was purchased only a week ago - is my only option is to take it back???

Dad

I think your game has a bug. It's your opinion to take it back.

You are positive she is saving the game correctly?

Then it's a bug in the cartridge. All the cartridges have a back-up battery where memory is stored, and that battery is not functioning properly. Sometimes, this just happens, and you need to replace the cart (it's either old or defective), or it means that the game is a bootleg copy. The bootlegs are notorious for having faulty save batteries. If I were you, I'd take it back to where you bought it and get another one. If you bought it from Bob's Big Video Game Store, then you may want to consider going somewhere more reliable, like Toys R Us or K-Mart. Hope this helps, and good luck!

I find it very flattering that a concerned parent would come to us for friendly advice.

Actually, I've seen him elsewhere on this forum. Dude, are you a programmer or something? I mean, if only my parents were cool enough to realise that there is more to the game than just "Pikachu! Thunder attack!" and mindless childhood memories of how bad we were at games.

Oh, and as a general rule, a gameshark solves every problem known to man. It's all a matter of getting the codes. Hey - maybe a gameshark could get me a girlfriend?
