yay porygon, good to see you again! as for the smell, it's very similar to maply syrup, but there's a burning kinda smell in there, too. i don't like it, but we get to sit on the jet for a good hour or two in the morning with the doors locked while guys spray the stuff everywhere if the wings are iced up. a layer of ice equal to the average sheet of sandpaper can reduce a wing's lift by 1/3, tho, so i don't mind the smell so much.

the trick: stack the quarters in the center of the ashtray so they're higher than the water. place a burning match on top of the quarters. cover the match and the stack of quarters with the shotglass. presto! water gets sucked right into the shotglass. just make sure you haven't been drinking TOO much before you try this on someone.
