And although this isn't related to teams, I used to think, for some strange reason, that Eevee could learn Bubblebeam. I was so happy that my favorite Pokémon could learn such a cool attack that I e-mailed Pokémon of the Day Guy from pocket.ign.com and bragged about how powerful Eevee was even though it looked like a useless fuzz ball. Thank Goddish they didn't print it. Yeesh...I was a Goddish-awful newbie.

I have no recollection of my first team. Frankly, I was surprised I could get through Indigo Plateau. I had seen NO birds. I had had for a long while no idea how to get the last gym leader, since I couldn't get into Saffron (hey, the elevator didn't go all the way up!). Somehow I managed to raise a Dragonite, and the only two I remember clearly on my team was Venusaur, Muk (!) and Draggy. Draggy had Thunder, Surf, Strength and Fly (oy...) and Muk had stuff like Fire Blast, Mega Drain, Thunderbolt. I loved my Muk. He killed the E4, barely. Venusaur...well, I can only assume it was there, it might not ha' been. Heck, a few mere months ago my Moltreses had Fly and Peck and Fire Spin stuff! Just over last summer did I learn everything, learn about G/S, etc. And surprisingly I'm looked up to and sought after by lots of people to help with movesets (of which I learn my best from here ^_^). Crezzy...and no, I didn't have a Porygon on my team. I didn't know of such a critter. Took me a long while to find M2 and the Birds! Goodness knows I wouldn't go trying to BUY any. Chaa...

Blastoise -skull bash, hydro pump, water gun, bite
Zapdos -thunder, drill peck, fly, thunderschock (which I never used. "Paralysis? Hah!")
Articuno -blizzard, ice beam, peck, mist (nerver used. "Doesn't do any damage. Sucks!")
Vileplume -cut, sleep powder, poisonpowder, stun spore (Yes I switched Absorb for Cut, then evolved it before it even learnt Acid!)
Mewtwo -freshly caught and never trained at all
Some other pokémon I found good at the moment.

I actually beat a guy with this team, but it was all because my Articuno froze his Mewtwo! Hehe!

Good thing I can't remember all of them, I do remember that Vaporeon had 3 Water attacks, though. ¬_¬

The funny thing is, I actually got to the finals at the dome using this collection of jokers, even taking down some skilled players from this very board...
None of my stats were anywhere near max (Jolteon had about 307 hp).
I think that's why I love these one's so much. Even though they were criminally weak and badly thought out, they were my first winners and they performed when required. I now have a special n64 box dedicated just to these, my special cherished children. So umm... sentimental rant over with. Incidentally, with the more powerful pokemon that I played with at the dome, I lost miserably due to playing like a complete smack head. The moral, buggered if I can see it.

The strange thing was, it always ended up with me against another Mewtwo, 1v1. And every one of my 3 bouts finished in a draw due to time over. I still got all the badges though

A few months later a Mewtwo moveset come across my mind. It included Amnesia, Substitute, Recover... Yes, that's right. I invented Nintendo's GREP without any outside interference. How's that for a scary story? (I still shudder just thinking of it)

Umm... Three toxics? You were smart enough to duplicate your TM's, I wasn't, so when I was gonna assemble the "ultimate team" all my good TM's were used up!
