I was playing my badly translated(argh why translate at all if done that badly?) Japanese Gold rom last night and defeated everyone in that gym quite easily. Why are so many of you having trouble at this gym? I defeated the leader of the gym using only three Pokemon. A lv 20 sudowoodo, a lv 17 butterfree, and a lv 17 spearow. I opened up with butterfree and used sleep powder followed by several confusion. After I finished off the first of his pokemon I switched to spearow and used peck and mud slap several times to finish off pokemon number two and I switched to sudowoodo to take care of his other two or whatever remaining pokemon. I used mimic to get hypnosis and I put them to sleep and just used rock throw until they fainted. I didn't use any potions and spearow and butterfree still had 3/4 of their hps after the battle. Sudowoodo was down to about 1/3 of his hps. Those ghosts using curse sure makes them easy to finish off. The rest of my team which I didn't use against the leader was a lv 12 togepi, a lv 22 geodude, and a lv 17 totodile.

I remember when I walked into that gym in silver. I didn't know the new types and how they were effective yet...

I plopped burraki down in front of some stupid ghost and said to myself "True evil should beat mishievous comic book evil any day". True to form, my evil attack (Faint attack or pursuit, heck if I remember) took them down like they weren't even there.

But you don't need super effectiveness to take out AIs...

I just used Flaafy with a Quick Claw and those ghosts were Fully Paralyzed every darn time... ^-^

Edit: still, it's easy if you chose Totodile, as it learns Bite...

What can I say? Totodile's the best starter.

Karnivax: Did you get to come up with the nicknames for the Pokémon that you trade for in-game? (Lola the Jynx, Crinkles the Tangela et al)
Nob Donut: No
Nob Donut: none of that stuff is my fault
Karnivax: Whew.
Nob Donut: yeah, i think so too. I'd be using names like Biff, Pongo, Goober, that sort of thing
