I just got a female Machop in G/S and have a Mr. Mime with Light Screen in my Red cartridge. What I'm wondering is, what gender will a pkmn you trade into G/S from R/B/Y be? Is it a random chosing, or what?

Gender is based on their Attack gene. When you trade it to G/S, the game will look at its gene and used that data to assign it a gender. In the case of Mime (and most other Pokemon), it will be male if the Attack gene is 8-15, and female if it is 0-7.

Can anyone else only see down to Dragonite on the list, or is it just me?

My confusion on the subject almost overtakes my feeling of horror that there are female Mr Mimes...

Thanks man, that guide helps a bunch. I have another question about breeding before I leave it be, though. Since Dark is a Special-based attack type, would it be worth it to breed Light Screen onto an Abra and then train it to a 'Kazam?
