Well, I finally broke down and trained my Mewtwo, just to finish Stadium. It took me 15 minutes to pull that sucker out of the box where he's sat ever since Wiggly caught him on his own, brush off the cobwebs, feed him some drugs, and give him a 5 minute test drive thru Cerulean Cave. With just that much "training", and no more, I walked thru the Ultra and Master Prime Cup levels, which my fun team was incapable of getting thru (altho they were real close on Ultra Ball). Mewtwo fell twice, both times due to FP. If I'd bothered to slap a Sub TM on him, he'd have been indestructible. So, I'm done with Prime Cup now. Then, for kicks, I wondered if there was a way to walk thru Pika Cup the same way. First, I checked to see who could learn Drage Rage. So, I caught a Growlithe, slapped some extras on him, and almost made it. He didn't quite fit the bill, tho, so I looked up all the stone evolvers to see what final evolutions I could slide into Pika Cup, and I saw Starmie. So, I got a Staryu, spent another 15 minutes tweaking it (all legal stuff), and I walked thru Pika Cup. Apparently Starmie is the Mewtwo of Pika Cup. Then out of curiosity, I took Starmie into Master Ball Poke Cup. My Attack Wiggly team had made it thru Ultra Ball, but kept stalling in the last round of Master Ball. So, anyway, I put in the barely-trained, randomly selected Starmie (without Recover, by the way, since I had to evolve the Staryu right away to fit him into Pika) with just Psychic/Surf/Tbolt/Twave...had a little bit of trouble, but nothing Wiggly and Snorlax couldn't handle. So, I've closed out Poke Cup now. Anyway, my point is...it's interesting to see how easy Stadium is if you're willing to use the power players. No wonder you guys all beat it so long ago. Also interesting is how difficult Petit Cup seems to be to sweep. Nearly all Psychics are not allowed in, which seems to be a major factor. Anyone got any ideas? Normally I wouldn't resort to such measures, but once I realized Stadium was cheating, all bets were off... ------------------ "If it's just a lull, why am I bored right out of my skull?" - The Replacements

I know how you feel... I trained up my Mewtwo, Freaky, to get a Surfing Raichu. I haven't finished any of the other bits yet except Prime Cup - I haven't resorted to Freaky for the rest of it(yet). But I didn't feel so bad after finding out that Stadium cheats so much... if it can cheat so much, I should be able to use Freaky to get my Raichu to have surf without much guilt. ------------------ Chloreon: A grass-type Eeveelution evolved with a Leaf Stone. --------- I'm not saying that i'm an ASH fan, but [spoiler deleted] after [spoiler deleted]. Chloreon: I trained up my Mewtwo, Freaky, to get a Surfing Raichu.Heh, that Surfing Raichu caught my rental Nidoking totally off guard in...I guess it was Pika Cup... By the way, I named my Mewtwo "ButtNugget" and judging by his appearance, it's darkened his spirit. Fish151PKMN: Abra=Mewtwo. Yeah, I noticed. Funny thing is, this morning I thought I'd try Abra, with that giant Speed and Special... I had a bit more trouble totally kicking ass with him than with Mew/Mewtwo, but the effect was mostly the same. Luckily, I built up a bunch of Continues as Abra was pretty sweep-worthy. T-Wave, Psychic, Reflect, Seismic Toss. Hey, that's the exact moveset I settled on! TWave was useful once, Reflect never paid off. I'd say 70% of the bad guys dropped in one Psychic. The rest dropped in 2, except for Exeggcute, who took 3 Psychics. I wonder what would happen to the game dynamics if you just removed Psychic all together... Gastly can be pretty devastating in there. I took the rental Gastly, but never used him. Any time I had trouble, there were too many Ground moves around to make him viable. Farfetch'ed is also a good choice. Oh, I wish I'd thought of that. Slash is the move there, I suppose? Well, with Abra's speed and special, I don't think any other physical attackers are a big threat. See below. cfalcon: ...abra and gastly both have their weaknesses (they can be paralyzed and such, and their weakness to physical attacks isn't totally helped with reflect). Well, the problem with Abra is that he kills a majority of the possibilities in one hit. Those with powerful Physical attacks tend to have poor Specials, so... I did have a bit of trouble with Jiggly and Cleflamer, so they might be viable...I suppose Clef more than Jiggy, tho. Too bad he's so horrible. Well, anyway, I finally polished off the game. R2-M2 is a bastard with the Crit Hits, but Team Wiggly took him down anyway. (Unfortunately, no one told poor Psyduck he had Thunderbolt...ouch!)! ...something else... ...it sucks that it'll replace your real team members in the Hall of Fame with krappy rentals. Now I'll have to take Mr. K thru the E4 again to put his name back in lights. KOFFING trained by TRAINER. Bah, who's he? Smog?!? Come on, it doesn't even work against a Caterpie! ------------------ "If it's just a lull, why am I bored right out of my skull?" - The Replacements [This message has been edited by Mr. K (edited 10-17-2000).]

Yeah, I just use a 3 or 4-poké team to take out the R1 E4 every now and then, with a few rentals like Zubat or Metapod with me to get them into the Hall of Fame.Right now I'm at Blaine's gym in R2... rrrrghhh, I must beat him! I keep getting beaten by that Psychic before him. I got to Blaine once, and almost beat him, but my rental Graveler(my team for his gym is Jynx, Omastar, Blastoise, Gengar, Raichu - all mine - and the Graveler) was down to but a few HP, the only other pokemon I had was Lola, and his last pokémon was his stupid Rapidash, which kept using Fire Spin. I kept breaking it, and managed to get an earthquake on it, but eventually Graveler fainted and Lola was torched, so he beat me by something like 20 hp - enough to kill with a single Psychic from Lola, anyway... *grumblemumblegrumblestupidblainegrumblemumble* ------------------ Chloreon: A grass-type Eeveelution evolved with a Leaf Stone. --------- You Know You Like Pokémon Too Much When: You name your dog "woof" because that's all it says.

As someone who started on Macs but switched to PCs, I'll say that I prefer the free flowing design of the PC, and the way it evolves to fit the marketplace instead of a single company continually trying to keep the one brand viable.I'm not going to argue about the Mac begin more thought out: it certainly is. When you realize that the PC starts in real mode without the ability to acess most things, then has to successfully kick itself into extended mode and that for some damn reason Intel made this hard it makes you cry... Seriously, I taught myself PC assembler in high school and seriously doubted if I was clever enough to learn the other sets... little did I know that what I took on first was non intuitive because it kept adding layers and layers of new instructions with every new chip set, and so it was still supporting instructions that were last used on chips that we wouldn't run toasters on today (to be specific some of the flag instructions, I believe, were implemented to be the same as some 70's chip). I've taken entire classes that are devoted to teaching simple assemblers (like MIPS)... they were cake. Given all of that, plenty of the advancements have come about because of loose market control: IBM screwing the XGA all to hell allowed everyone and their mom to make SVGA monitors, and that's better for the consumer in some ways (the way it isn't is that we have to rely on a third party to handle monitor software, like Windows: VGA was standard, so you or I could easily write code that would support every VGA monitor ever made, while each SVGA was unique in its non-VGA graphics modes and such for a time... that was one of things that let Machosoft get so big, they could support them all and you could write your software to run with their stuff doing the hardware work). Basically it's a double edged sword, but I still like the PC mentality better than the Mac mentality... Just my 2˘. Also, as I've learned from being in America my entire life, people like to be loyal to things. Many people don't just prefer Coke to Pepsi (or vise versa) : they claim the other drink is "crap". Water from one side of the city versus the other tastes more different than those two. Most of the people in the world can't tell the difference... this is like wine drinkers telling the differences between vintages. Yet people have determined opinions about this, almost as set in their heads as religion sometimes. This brand of jeans. That brand of bread... ...and it gets really silly when it gets to video game systems. I've learned to live with it, and enjoy it some times. I suspect that we don't feel connected as a culture, probably because we aren't united against any particular nation or even idea right now, so we struggle to feel a part of larger things. Don't anyone feel I'm talking down to you: I own all the systems Nintendo ever made, and I fervently believe that they make the best games. I'm just as trapped as any random fool. Err... this is pretty damn off topic. ------------------ -cfalcon FIREBREATHER DICK wants to battle!

Well, I have always tried to be as open minded as possible, but I suppose that can't always happen.I simply don't like Macs. I won't tryda hide that. Something about them, I suppose. Seems like a lot of games aren't available on Macs. About video games, I used to be as unbiased as they come. Then after awhile, I started hating the ol' GayStation. It just pisses me off to see games get made for that thing when they COULD be on Dreamcast. I guess more people own GSX's, but still. Also, I've found very few GSX only games, or series of games to be incredibly fun, and good enough to warrant a loyalty for the box of ass, when you look at what Nintendo has goin' on. Maybe it's just cuz I hate grainy graphics. That can do it. But I find very few times when I'd rather sit down and try to get crackin' on something like Chrono Cross over hitting the courts in Mario Tennis, or slashing some gay ass in SoulCalibur, or even bearing down and dealing with Stadium. Of the GSX games, the only one that really tempts me is Metal Gear Solid, and now it's on the PC. Problem solved. As are FFVII and FFVIII, but I don't dig that stuff. As a multiplayer gamer, it's really tough to be interested in what GSX has to offer. I suppose that's not to say that it's a crappy system, but Nintendo and Sega seem to be dealing with multiplayer and single player gamers just fine. Calling the sports games decent multiplayer is no damn good. Just try to find 2 multitaps, and 8 people who are willing to play Madden 20xx, NHL 20xx, NBA Live 20xx, or and of the 989 Sports versions of those games. And these games are better on the computer, and have internet capabilities. PS2 looks like an OK thing for now...but until a price drop and some internet support is announced, I'll watch Sony's living room takeover from the sideline. Oh damn. This was about Mr. K using Mewtwo.
