Is it just me or do the names of pokemon such as Sudowoodo or perhaps Quilava just sound kind of stupid?

I think they did a decent job on most of the names...except for Wooper and Igglybuff. I could think of a much better name than Igglybuff.

I agree with Flareon, they seemed to do OK on most of them... Wooper's the only one I really don't like. I think Sudowoodo could've dropped the extra "o" (I just call it sudowood), but that's a minor niggle.

I don't mind Igglybuff too badly(the name, that is, the thing freaks me out)... but Gigglyfluf _is_ a much cooler name!

Why don't you like Wooper? It's a direct translation of it's original name. The "u" katakana is used for the English "w" sound sometimes. For example "Uindi" means windy, "Uingu" means wing.

It just doesn't look right... I agree with Noddy, it sounds like a flying type. I can just imagine a bird crying "woooooo-perrr, woooooo-perrr...", but the name doesn't seem to fit with the actual pokémon that they've named Wooper. I think maybe if it was Woopa it wouldn't be quite so bad, but I just don't like the name Wooper.

What irritates me about it is that Wooper was originally believe to be the name for Skarmory (Eaamudo), which kinda looks like a Whooping Crane...

how about quagsire and sneasel! ag names if ya ask me, nad in r/b/y it always made me mad that the second pidgy evo was pidgeotto, and the third was pidgeot, those should have been switched.

I have no problems with them... Most are actually more complex than the R/B/Y ones (Sudowoodo? Quagsire? Umbreon?), and nearly all fit. Still not too fond of Wooper though. =P

Wooper would've been a cool name for Swinub or Piloswine (the wooly-mammoth ice/ground types)

And if your list of "stupid namnes" you forgot Dux and most of the other pokemon you trade for in-game.
