Why is everyone saying Mew is cheap?? Mew2 is 10X more powerful then any Mew. Is Mew cheap because he learns all the TM's and Hm's? If so, may I remind you that your not going to see a mew with cut, flash, mimic, sky attack, explosion, water gun, Razor wind, Psywave, rage, Dragon rage and etc. So that erases about half of the TM/HM's available, softboiled is equivalent to recover and the only thing Mew can be that Mew2 cannot be is a swift dancer. Also Mew2 beats Mew in every category except Defense! Not only that but Mew2 can learn Amnesia which cranks up that huge special, Mew on the other hand does not learn this move and Mew's special (lvl 100) about 1.36 of that of Mew2's (406/298=1.3624161). So compare the two and give out a reply

I have seen many mews with explosion, but i do agree with you that mew isn't cheap. I used to have one on my team, but the team just didn't win at all.

Mew has more rounded stats than Mewtwo. While Mewtwo has a low Defense

He learns barrier

quote:
...and almost no Pokemon are resistant to both Earthquake and a Normal attack (Swift/H-beam, etc.).

Areodactyl, Dragonite, Gyarados, and most flying types for their high attack.

quote:
Mewtwo is slightly higher in all stats other than Defense, except Special, which is is quite a bit higher.

slightly!!!
Lets take a close look at that
Mewtwo(lvl 100)
HP: 415
ATTACK: 318
DEFENSE: 278
SPEED: 358
SPECIAL: 406

Mew (lvl 100)
HP: 403
ATTACK: 298
DEFENSE: 298
SPEED: 298
SPECIAL: 298

Lets compare it now
HP: Mewtwo 10hp difference(not much)
ATTACK: Mewtowo 20 points difference (not too much)
DEFENSE: Mew 20 points difference (not too much)
SPEED: Mewtwo 60 points difference (big difference)
SPECIAL: Mewtwo 108 points difference (speechless)

quote:
Mew can one-hit KO a Mewtwo with Hyper Beam in one hit as long as it doesn't have Substitute

True, unless Mew2 has barrier/reflect.

quote:
He can learn one-hit KOs, and that also makes him one of the best one-hit KO platforms in the game. He is the only one-hit KOing Pokemon that can recover HP and stay alive long enough to sweep easily with it. He also learns T-wave, which compliments this.

If that's the case Dugtrio will be Mew's nightmare (Thunder-wave has no effect and Dugtrio is faster than Mew)

quote:
Show me how you define cheap without "tayloring it" to Mewtwo, and I'll show you that Mew is cheap by your definition.

Cheap, as in stats beyond your opponents wildest dreams. Mew has all his stats (except HP) below or near the 300's (at lvl 100)

Lets see you reply now

Fanha, I completely agree with you. A high attack is actually kind of more useful than a high special because not that many other pokes are resistant to it. The problem there is that many high\attack guys have crippling weaknesses e.g. Dragonite. Mew's type takes care of that. And 300 seems to qualify a poke as "high" in a stat. Why does mew's 298 seem to lessen it?

*shakes head*. *Still* at it, I see.

Sorry, TeeJay, but I take something like this personal.

And the above is why (no offence) you are a terrible debater. You're not thinking things through objectively just like your "uncheap" Mewtwo.

This was covered a long time ago. I have NEVER seen a Mewtwo with Barrier used effectively

And just like long ago, this was also made to look ridiculous. Are you so arrogant to assume that just because YOU haven't seen one, it's impossible for there to be one? My bro plays a Barrier Mewtwo. That thing is annoying as hell. The only way I can beat it is by time out. Also, it's kinda unexpected. You don't expect that Mewtwo to know barrier. When you find out too late, you are gone.

Of course Dugtrio can't take Mewtwo

You missed the point. There IS a pokemon that can hammer your Mew. The above statement is like saying, well of course Slowbro can't take Jolteon ...

Rock, Paper, Scissors.

It's much more balanced than Mewtwo. Get over it already.

Oh, and Mewtwo's powerup raises special defence too. Mew's doesn't. 2 turns to 999 special. 3 turns to 999 attack. No contest. Amnesia Mew2 beats SD Mew any day (all other things being equal).

Everything else should be in the favourite thread. I won't say anything more.

don't make me hurt you

Anywho, Mew is cheap. Ten times weaker than Mewtwo? Are you on crack or something, boy? He is still one of the highest ranking statwise Pokemon, and he can be given all sorts of wacky strategies!
Mew can only be considered cheap, though, if you consider a Legendary Bird cheap. I usually find no problem killing Mews (once Mumbo Gumbo, my Slayer-of-the-Cheap 'Sploding Snorlax, took out two Mews in a row!

You brush off Swords Dance. Easily as good as Amnesia because a LOT of the popular Pokemon, including Mewtwo, have a weak Defense, not Special.

As has been repeatedly pointed out to you, Amnesia greatly raises both your offense and defense. It would take Swords Dance and Barrier combined to equal it.

Less popular Pokemon have a high Defense (Exeggutor...)

Aha! So you finally admit that Mewtwo has high Defense. Exeggutor's is lower than Mewtwo's!

This was covered a long time ago. I have NEVER seen a Mewtwo with Barrier used effectively, and I don't think I ever will, because of moveset limitations it puts on

As I pointed out before, Barrier has a huge amount of PP, which allows this Mewtwo to outlast almost all of its counters. And any halfway-intelligent Mewtwo user will save some damaging PP to the end to beat the enemy once it starts Struggling.

Stats aren't everything. Mew's moveset means it's almost impossible to predict what it has, and even more impossible to come up with a counter

You're engaging in serious double-talk here. Whenever someones points out that Mewtwo can counter its counters, you scream that they have "polyMewtwomoveophobia". But then you turn around and tout how Mew's greater moveset variation lets it counter any Mewtwo setup! Sorry, can't have it both ways...

And I can't think of any way a Dancing Mew could beat Amnesia/Barrier Mewtwo (or Amnesia/Substitute, for that matter). While Mew is waiting for a CH (and that won't kill it even if it's using Hyper Beam), Mewtwo can easily slaughter Mew with a 999 Special attack of anything other than Psychic. (And don't forget that you can't keep Exploding until you get a CH.)

Finally, I'd like to point out that killing Mewtwo with an Exploding Mew isn't a victory. It's a draw.
