I'm raising a Zapdos and I don't know if it should have Drill Peck or Sky Attack.

Well, Drill Peck doesn't telegraph or leave you vulnerable for a turn.

Definitely Drill Peck. Sky Attack takes two turns to attack, but Drill Peck can do more damage than Sky Attack in the same two turns.

All of the above regarding Drill peck is true. Sky Attack should only be used on Pokemon that don't learn Drill Peck.

Skyattack...

Uh, I'd go with Drill Peck.
And Scyther7164, can you take a hint?

As you've read, yes Drill Peck is better than Sky Attack. If Drill Peck is breedable, I'll give it to all my flying Pokemon.

And I thought that this post was all but dead. Just look at the difference between when Scyther posted last and when Stinky Cheese Man tacked something on.

Although everyone is right Drill Peck is generally totally superior to Sky Attack, there is one reason why someone might use it over Drill Peck, in certain teams.

If you are trying to knock out your enemies in 1 hit, Sword Dance + Sky Attack could work well. Type Flying isn't weak to many types, and that's why someone might choose Sky Attack over Hyper Beam. There are many reasons you might want to knock your enemies out in 1 hit.

Overall though Drill Peck is much better.

I generally prefer to use FLY for Pokemon who can't learn Drill Peck.. although FLY is weaker, it's much better, especially if you have a bird with something like Toxic too...
Sky Attack is too slow.. It just doesn't work, alright?

But SD+Drill peck works aswell, and anything that can be killed with 1 Sky Attack can also be killed with 1 Drill peck (both fully SD'ed) which takes the same time

One Sky Attack will do 140 damage while, in the same two turns, Drill Peck can deliver 160 (2 x 80). Besides, using Sky Attack is purely asking the opponent to switch for a Rock type and use Rock Slide.

By the wat, in G/S, Drill Peck can be given to any Pokémon that you breed with Dodrio. Isn't that great?
