I've been disputing something for the past few days, and am in desperate need of some advice. I've trained a Cloyster, and it looks good, but its stats leave something to be desired (except Defense). My question is, based on stats and strengths/weaknesses alone, which one would be better out of:

Cloyster -OR- Gyarados?

Neither. Go with a Toby-Bro.

Amnesia, Rest, Thunder Wave, Surf.

Cloyster in my opinon. No 4x weakness. That's very handy.

well, it depends what you're looking for. I think Cloyster's better in the long run, especially against physical Pokemon. (toxic/clamp, great combo!)

Gyrados is a paper bag with nasty teeth. Its high attack and special make it capable of doing a lot of damage quickly, although it won't last long.

hey don't diss gyarados. before I came here I had plenty of good battles with gyarados and didn't even have any status affecting moves on him just offensive ones and he was the horse of my team

I would go with Cloyster. They both aren't great, but my Cloyster has done more than it's fair share. It's great against S-Dancers and if you give it the right moves, you could to very well. Toxic and Clamp can do a pretty good deal of damage to almost anything.

Cloyster.

As someone said earlier, both aren't great, but a 4x weakness is bad. Besides, I know loads of people who use Gyarados.

Besides, you can't really do much with Gyrados except all out attack. Cloyster also gets the bonus for blizzard - one from Cloyster is more powerful than most (all?) mono water pokemon. And his defense is useful if you lack a ghost or rock member on your team.
