This just a guess, but the current "giveaway" theme at the NYC Pokecenter is Safari pokes--types that were in the RBY Safari Zone with a few special moves attached...Hydro Pump Dratini, Moonlight/Morning Sun Nidorans, Faint Attack Kangashkan, a few more.

At least sometimes these pokes are given out as eggs; I guess that must be the case right now.

These NYC Pokémon are a ~big mistake~. People are going to be sharking them left and right and claiming that they're legal when they could be living a thousand miles away. And who authorizes them? If NoA decides what gets given out, sooner or later (probably sooner) they're going to slip up and ruin the game AGAIN. If a bunch of suits running the Center itself picks and chooses, oh boy... You do not just drop healing moves and accurate sleep moves on Pokémon completely at random!

And then there's always the question of whether someone's NYC PokéCenter move is actually legal or not. "Yeah, they were giving out Spore Hoppips last week; I guess you missed it." Because I seem to recall that none of them show up as legal in Stadium 2. It wouldn't be so bad if they were ALL crap (Faint Attack Kangaskhan? Yeah, right next to my Thunderpunch Scizor) but Moonlight and Morning Sun?
~Uiru- at least you can't have Counter and the healing move...

These Pokécenter gifts are fucking up everything!

(Pardon my french, but, look what they're doing!)

Now, I wouldn't mind if they were stupid attacks as said above, like a Scizor with Thunderpunch (it's like... WHY?)

But, recovery moves and stuff like lovely kiss! Dat's not right!

Hello everyone,

I have a friend who said they went to the pokemon center in NYC. He says they gave out special pokemon and I was wondering how could I prove that he may be lying and sharked those pokemon. Is there a list of pokemon that were given out at the NYC center. How about the ID info, original trainer, does it come out as a egg?? Is there anything else I need to know?

The most raw info I've read on the NYC Pokecenter has been in this thread:

It's up to twelve pages now and covers most of the giveaways that have been run so far.

My understanding is that when they give out Legendaries, the OT name is NYC_, where the blank is filled in by a lower class a, b, c, or d, depending on which "slot" was used for the cart. ID numbers start at 00001 and increase by one each time a poke is given out, just like the Celebi machine. I'm uncertain how often the ID# resets to 00001, but one would assume it would be on a daily basis.

The NYC eggs would presumably have the same OT name and ID# as that of the cart it was hatched on.

safeguard natu (never given out to anybody else in the US (apparently : / )! They got the memory card from Japan Late, so they never gave one out! ONe of the employees had kept one for himself thou)

while I was At t he center I hatched a shiny girafarig!

I also hatched a shiny ratatta and lickitung...

I got beaten by one of the employees who I wasn't expecting to be packing Super-Legendaries. a little ego killer... He was really surprised that I was against using them in battle. I guess next time I should break out a Curselax and Healbelling baton-passing team for him. I'm gonna beat him next time, thou.
