This is just a short list of things that never failed to irk me while I was battling. Feel free to add more.

1. Remember that this is only a game. If you lose, it's not something to kill yourself over. If you win, more power to you, but please don't rub it in my face.

2. Please do not play like TV Ash on his worst day. He's an idiot, and you're more of one for thinking like him. (e.g., Pikachu kills everything, etc.) He is The Hero of the show, and thus can get away with some of the stunts he pulls. You won't.

3. Clearly define the rules. This means levels, clauses, etc. This is supposed to be an even fight, at least level-wise. I've had a girl bring out a level 68 Celebi to whomp on my level 50 team. I was tempted to force her to resign right then and there.

4. Please do not show off your Rare Candied critter and brag about it.

5. If you're Sharking (or using Brain Boy) for really ridiculous critters, I'm leaving. Either that, or I'm more willing to pound you down.

6. Strategy (evasion, recovering, Baton-Passing, etc.) is not cheating. Just because I was more creative with legal moves than you does not make me a cheater.

7. Nobody cares about Mew vs. Mewtwo anymore. Get over it.

8. Unless crowned so by an official, you're not a Master. Neither am I.

9. Nintendo is not the absolute be-all and end-all of Pokemon movesets. Inconceivable as it may seem, they do make mistakes.

10. Please do not pull out the link cable in order to prevent your loss from being recorded. I don't want to muck up my data.

11. If you're willing to learn, I'm willing to teach (or, at least, give tips). If you're not, wallow in your ignorance.

Argh! I hate that "you cheated, you used <insert legal move here>" line.

A few additional ones and further to some of the above:

Just because I beat you doesn't mean I used Gameshark or somehow cheated. Please do not accuse me of it.

If you're gonna Shark and be bloody obvious about it, don't insult my intelligence by denying it when I call you on it.

Clearly defining the rules is good. Just remember...if you define a rule, it applies to BOTH of us. If you wanna set up clauses, fine, but YOU have to follow them too.

And if you do decide to set up clauses...PLEASE keep them reasonable. Standard Prime Cup rules is all well and good. Banning half the moves in the game and 1\4th of the pokemon is a load of shit.

And last but not least...DO NOT FUCKING FIGHT ME WITH MISSINGNO, BLOCK M CHIP, OR ANYTHING ELSE THAT WILL CRASH MY GAME.

Hmmm,there is a good chance that everybody began playing this way (personnaly,I began with a rom,and never knew about the types,and had to figure it(yeah,I tried to shock brock's onix:) ).But after all,you learn something by playing so.

Wrong!Show it,brag about the way it can stomp a whole team,then learn why you got beaten easily.My nephew learnt about stat exp this way.

To tell you the truth,AH is full of *good* sharkers that just want to make things faster,and just care about the strategy.*Bad* sharkers are just here to be avoided or to be ridicule.

Usually,giving a few urls can be enough (AH,PD,PokeForever,TPM and Pojo).To give you an idea,French newbies recieved the url of pojo,AH and TPM when they needed to learn some bases.I know that some of them registered there (and one was almost eaten alive,jo ).Later,they heard about PokeForever,and I see good things.

Truthfully, I only post on Azure Heights because I'm given to understand that there is a modicum of intelligence and civility here, as compared to the cerebrally-deprived, strategically-deficient, grammatically-challenged chest-beating that goes on other boards. Of course, if you're saying that Azure Heights falls into this category, I think you'll find that a few residents of this board may disagree with you.

I find that it's far easier to criticize and heckle than it is to actually contribute something truly worthwhile. Then again, I never took the easy way out of anything. [Smile]
