How about this: you pick an route or cave in the gameboy game that both you and your opponent go to, and you have 5 minutes (or whatever amount of time) to catch and train a team of Pokemon. As a rule, you may not catch any "event" Pokemon, such as Mewtwo, Zapdos, etc. You also wouldn't be able to trade pokemon over from another game to prevent loopholes. Both players would have multiple TM's duplicated for use before beginning. There would probably have to be someone else watching to make sure that neither player cheats by going out of their designated area or area's.

So whaddya think?

Edit: Just thought of some more. Maybe let the players go anywhere they want, but they can't use Missingno or Gameshark to obtain Pokemon. Afterwards, both player's check each other's Pokemon to see if they are legal.

Yet another Idea: Use the glitch city trick so that the safari zone time is what is keeping track of how much time is left. When you warp back to the sarfari zone office when the time expires, then you just fly back to a town.

Sounds cool provided both trainers have the time for it. It is a lot like the "Battle Now" option on Stadium. It's fun sometimes but there is a reason why it is only one small part of the Stadium. You just can't ever replace people bringing in their own, hard earned Pokemon no matter how much you want to stop sharking.

personally that wouldn't be that smart, since the best areas would be like, the later areas in the game with the most different species in it -_-

Dark Persian: Well, its not meant for stopping sharking, its just an interesting twist on the game. You have a limited time to get what you need and want for your team and you must decide how you want to spend it. Should you be spending all your efforts leveling up your common Pokemon or should you spend a time trying to find that rare powerful one? Should you go try to buy stat drugs, or should you be more concerned about getting that awesome move your Pokemon learns at level 40? (just an example)

Skarmory: What's not smart? Could you be more specific?
