Well, my friend Nate and I drove up to Six Flags Great Adventure this afternoon to snag Celebi and crush some little kids' dreams in battle. We were rich; we laughed at the $45.99 (plus tax) admission fee. When I first saw the FunFest tent sitting in the shadow of Batman and Robin: The Chiller, I thought, _Whoa. I'd heard it was a tent, but damn! My room's bigger than this!_ ^_^; Right away I saw people playing the TCG and I cursed myself for forgetting my old Chansey / Scyther deck. It would have annihilated their weak Neo decks, ehehe...
Mere minutes after we arrived, there was one of the trivia games. Nate and I stood in the back while a bunch of little kids struggled to answer TCG trivia. I raised my hand on a bunch of them, but I was ignored until the very end, when no one could correctly answer the question "In the Pokémon TCG, what is Jynx's attack?" Eventually the trivia guy had no choice but to call on me. I said "Meditate!" and received a chorus of both cheers and boos when the trivia guy said I was right. I won a Pokémon 3 soundtrack CD. w00t.
Anyway, we accomplished our first mission: we each took four Celebi. I was pretty pissed to find out that, unlike legal Mews, all of these Celebi had different stats. But later in the day I discovered that they seemed to be a little glitched. During the Fest, I stashed the Celebi quartet in a box so I could fight Nate. After I clobbered him soundly (he's not an Azurian...if only I'd gotten to him sooner!), I shut off my GB without putting my team back in its box. But on the way home, I turned the GB back on so I could put my team away, and when I withdrew the four Celebi, I found that some of their stats had changed! Some went up a point and others went down a point. What's the deal here?
As for mission two, I only got to crush one little kid, and it was with rentals in Stadium 2. (There weren't any Transfer Paks there. Argh!) I stomped his Ampharos (the little cretin actually rented Ampharos, with Zap Cannon and Dynamic Punch), Arcanine, and Dugtrio with a terrible team of Delibird (who did surprisingly well with Blizzard), Feraligator, and Suicune.
I didn't detect any Azurians there. There were quite a few people my age, and I was talking about Azure Heights pretty loudly in hopes of someone coming up to me and asking "You go to Azure Heights?" but alas, no luck. If any of you were there, I was the guy in the Toronto Raptors hat. ^_^;
We topped the day off by going on Batman: The Ride, playing good old "Virtual On" in the arcades, and laughing at the crappy singing coming from the recording studio. All in all, a fulfilling experience.
