I live in Georgia, but I severely doubt I'll make it to Six Flags this weekend. =(

Eh, it was almost pure nitwittery. The two Nintendo reps were good-looking girls in their early twenties but they seemed to know almost nada about the game. Pikachu was wandering about in an almost perfectly sphercial costume that must have been amazingly hot--I had to curse when I realized I had no camera nor any means of buying one...a pic with Pikachu would have been surrealtistic as hell...The actual event site was nothing more than a semi-deserted tent canopy sited just outside the main gain (so I saved the admission costs, but did have to pay $9 for parking) with a couple Game Boys and N64 boxes set up. The PokeCars were there as well. And, most importanly, there was a Celebi Machine. I got five of them, so I guess my mission was a success. I didn't stay any longer than it took to use the Celebi Machine--it's not a good idea for adults to hang about such events--I'd look less suspicious riding around offering to show kiddies some puppies in the back of a van. And there didn't seem to be anything happening, anyway. The Nintendo rep I talked to was pretty definite that they were going to be doing Celebi giveaways ONLY at Six Flags, so I wouldn't hold my breath for a mall tour. Either bite the bullet now or forget about getting your legal Celebi, I reckon (although this may change when they release Pokemon 4 here)... The road trip was a nightmare--car problems, bad motels, no air conditioning, insane truckers (no doubt snorting crank off the blades of their buck knives in-between trying to kill me)...Next time I fly.

Mr. K:So...how did it go?It was pretty much like what Thom said. cfalcon and I got in a couple of link battles, but nothing too exciting. I battled this girl who had mostly mid-level pokémon, which meant one lvl-64 Lugia (without Recover) and 5 more between lvl 24 and 50. And her new lvl 5 Celebi. So I put it my working team (for playing the game) that was mostly between 55 and 63. She was doing really well, knockit out most of my Pokémon in one or two hits, but without Recover, I eventually wore her down, and won. She left right after we were through. I think she came just for a Celebi, and wanted to get in one battle. She wasn't prepared at all. They had trivia, and I asked the cute twenty-year-old rep girls if I could participate, too (being three times as old as most of the other participants). She said sure I could, so I answered a question right and won this HUGE blow-up Pichu doll. The question I correctly answered was "How do you get Amnesia Psyduck in Stadium 1 for Pokémon Red and Blue?" The Lugia car is sooooooooooooooooooo cool!! I've been lusting after the PT Cruisers, but the Lugia one was just too neat. It even had a large television and N64 built in to the back. I also played against some other people at the Stadium 2 mini-games. A rep, a teenaged girl, and her dad. I did very well, even at the Mr. Mime game. I always thought I sucked at that game, but I'm actually okay, but not nearly as good as cfalcon, who routinely kicks my ass. The only game I didn't win was the Scyther/Pincher game, which is weird, cause I usually do pretty well. Maybe there were too many distractions.

Hmmm...sounds like I didn't miss much. Other than getting annoyed with my friend's wife for ruining our trip to the Bronx Zoo, I had a great time.I got to ride the Cyclone on Coney Island, too. Nothing like a nice rollercoaster built in 1927 to knock the krap out of you. Thom Burr: The two Nintendo reps were good-looking girls in their early twenties but they seemed to know almost nada about the game. There were a lot of these at the mall tour, too. Hot chicks who didn't know a Voltorb from a Magnemite. ...a pic with Pikachu would have been surrealtistic as hell... I have a pic of me with Pikachu. At least he was in an air-conditioned mall when I saw him. The actual event site was nothing more than a semi-deserted tent canopy... Lame. The Nintendo rep I talked to was pretty definite that they were going to be doing Celebi giveaways ONLY at Six Flags... I wouldn't take anything these guys say too seriously. I think they know about as much about Nintendo's plans as the guy cooking fries at your local Mickey D's knows about McDonald's expansion plans in China... Anyway, thanks for the reports. Good work on winning the Pichu, pk. How long did you guys actually spend at the thing...and how long did it take to get there?
