I may have mentioned in passing that I was gearing up to battle this kid (hey, I'm entitled to say that. He's 18, I'm 27) I met at WotC. The last time we battled, it was 3 on 3. I lost, mainly due to one of those HUGE blunders that come back to haunt you.(Note to self...the next time Mewtwo's special goes *down*, use Amnesia in order to avoid those embarassing CH's.) After much training, he and I agree to a rematch. However, one thing leads to another and he's either a) not there or b) forgotten his cartridge. Finally, I caught up to him tonight, and he had his cartridge...but not his team. He spends a good portion of the time I'm there (mind you, I haven't even had dinner yet, and I'm fresh from work) working on his Mewtwo, since I decided to settle for a Mewtwo vs. Parasect match, one-on-one. (Yes, I am an evil, evil person at heart, taking advantage of someone's naivete.) The battle is short, with his setup: Grep Mewtwo (FYI, it's Substitute, Amnesia, Psychic, & Recover, to save on posts) vs. the standard Anti-Psychic Parasect (look it up under Bug Pokemon) The battle is short, one-sided, and rather satisfying when you consider the frustration I've gone through. Mewtwo created a Substitute Parasect used Spore Mewtwo fell asleep! (Boy, am I glad I'm not doing this in Stadium) Parasect uses Swords Dance x 3, during which time Mewtwo is out like a light. Opponent: "I don't believe this! Wake up, Mewtwo! It's only supposed to last 3-5 rounds." Me: "Actually, it's between 1-7 rounds, and it's random." Opponent: "Why're you using Swords Dance? That doesn't do anything to Bug attacks." I don't respond, but let Parasect do the talking for me. One Leech Life, and Mewtwo's Sub is gone. Two more, and Mewtwo is splashed. Opponent: "Man, that really *is* a Mewtwo killer! He just devastated my Mewtwo! (fake Brit accent) Good show, old chap." I don't say anything, but I do smirk, nod, and give him the intimidatingly firm knuckle cruncher that is my handshake. Yes, I know...this was nothing more than a verification that the standard Parasect moveset works, but it felt *goooood*. I should mention that this guy is the only "honorable" trainer in the Northwest Suburban Chicago area, when everyone else is using Gamesharks to a ludicrous degree. (Ludicrous as in, "um, that's an awfully fast Slowbro to outpace my Mewtwo.") He came in 2nd place at the local TCG tourney. Hopefully, I'll be seeing him again in a week or two, when we'll *finally* have that rematch. Later, --DocMui ------------------ To claim mastery is to imply that there is nothing else to learn. You mean, I should take him on as my Padawan learner? I'll give him the URL to Azure Heights, and if he's really web-deprived, maybe I'll print out some of the pages. *Maybe*. Personally, I'd like to take him on in a tourney...*that*, people, would be something interesting. ------------------ To claim mastery is to imply that there is nothing else to learn. I think it's hilarious that all of Parasects moves become trash in Stadium: Spore? Can't get through a sub. Leech Life? That neither. Swords Dance? That beefs up Leech Life, which misses. That added to the fact that sleep is 1-3 makes it not useful there. But it's still playable in GB, as long as Mewtwo doesn't have ice or fire. "grep" movesets aren't that powerful on gameboy: that's why they only came around when stadium came out. A first turn sub on Gameboy doesn't help much. Feels good to take down a M2 though, doesn't it? ------------------ -cfalcon FIREBREATHER DICK wants to battle!

Is Substitute good enough to have only have leech life as your only attack? I have slash instead of sub. but i will probably switch when i can.
