First off, some of you may not know me. I am Iyse, I’m from the UK and I am (or was) pretty well known at this board before I left about 2 months ago (for some reason even I don'’ know). I may even consider myself to be famous on this board, but then again, I’m an egotistical son of a bitch with a big mouth, so other’s may find ‘famous’ a little too extreme.

Who cares anyway… On to the story, which will probably be the most in depth and longest (perhaps even most exciting) war story you have ever and ever will read!

The slogan for the dome is “One amazing day”, or something crap like that. Well I can tell you it was a phenomenal day! Probably one of the most exciting of my life, and I wasn’t even playing!

I come outta the train station to see all the competitors, including Philbo and Darryn standing there, including Philbo’s dad and Darryn’s mum. I won’t bore you with what happened outside, but when we got in, there were N64 stands everywhere with Snap and Stadium, and a huge stage with two N64 stands on either side. In the middle was a huge screen with two seats and two gold controllers connected up to an N64.

After playing a bit of Snap and Rental Stadium (and mini games), Philbo realised that he had given his Rhydon some screwed up moveset. So he quickly traded it to me and I gave it the TMs (which I luckily had) so it was all set. Phew, that was close. It turns out, it happened to his Zam too! So, I had to do that for him aswell. So we were set. Darryn was in group A, and Philbo in Group B, so if they won all their matches, they would face each other in the final.

Darryn was called at I dunno what time, but he boldly stepped up for his first match. There were 32 people, so it was single elimination.

Philbo was approached by two guys who asked to look at his cart. They talked to his dad, we all got a bit worried. It turned out that some treacherous jealous fuck ON THIS FUCKING BOARD had read Philbo’s Southampton war story and ratted on him. These guys checked Azure Boards, namely Skivey Boy, and saw Philbo had written: “I sharked a new team”.

So, Philbo’s game was inspected, and even thought there was no proof apart from some writing on the internet that he had sharked ANY Pokémon, Skivey Boy told him that he was not allowed to used the current team, because he had used illegal methods.

OK, let’s stop right here. Who here has a gameshark? Hands up! I’m sure than 95% of Azurians HAVE Gamesharks! And like someone once said, it’s a way of speeding up thing for the professionals. We could do it anyway, but seeing as we’ve spent so much time on the game anyway, why spend more?!

So, now a warning! There is a guy with a lot of piercings scanning these boards looking out for sharkers, so that’s basically everyone! =D

BTW, he probably won’t post, but he says that AH is a brilliant site (which it is!).

So, I asked Philbo if he wanted to use my team. We sorted somethings out, but he was forced to depart with his Zapdos (which can take out Eggys). I won’t POST what we did exactly, because he might be deported or some shit for using methods that aren’t appropriate. Heh, we were all legal about it anywayz. We didn’t want another little shit causing more trouble.

BTW, to the person who did ACTUALLY PHONE EM UP AND TELL THEM, own up, or we can all safely say that you are a fucking coward who lost to someone better than you anyway. Even if Philbo did get disqualified, where does that bring you? Closer to the finals? No, my simple minded friend. It just makes you look like a prick!

It was probably the most shocking time in the whole hall. The moment a stalemate had turned, with Jolteon having all the disadvantages in type. Everyone started to mutter about it. Phil was gonna win this!

If what you say is true, Iyse, and that 95% of this board are habitual Sharkers, then I am disgusted. If so, I'm surprised Philbo was the only one that was caught out.

Don't be so quick to blame Philbo's expulsion on one person. I will now come out, in a public (well, not so public as it's just on this board) confession, and tell you I Was The One.

Does it make you feel better now, knowing I'm the one who "ratted him out"? Well, know this- when I did tell them that one of the tournament winners used a Gameshark to create his team, I was given the response that "many people had suspected as much, and that many people in this tournament probably had too". So don't get so angry. I competed with a team I crafted by myself, over months and months of setbacks and weeks of play, and even if I lost I felt good knowing that there were people winning who had created a team in a few hours with a cheat cartridge. I am a heavy believer in ethical training (Cat-Gonk, if you're here you'll know what I mean) and there was nothing ethical in winning that way. So, Philbo, you Sharked your team, you won your tournament, got that far and then the buck stopped.

Good.

I suspected this tournament, like the one preceding it, would be full of cheaters, cheapos and the like. Feels nice to be right.

You may take this as my letter of resignation. If you are all so angry with me, and my prattle has not changed a thing, then I will abandon my handle and never post on Azure Heights again.

And if Nintendo didn't want people to use them, they wouldn't have made Pokemon take so ridiculously long to train, and put the level cap at 70 or so.

Link/Stadium battles are pure strategy games. Nothing else. If you get extra satisfaction from injecting the RPG element into them, fine, but don't expect everyone else to feel the same way.

The GS is either there for:

a) Cheating bitches who don't deserve to have a liver.

b) People who have spent a huge amount of time on this game. I'm talking waaaayyy over the 255.00 limit, perhaps even on more than one game (like me!), it simply speeds up the process for those who have no time to do it in, but are 100% capable of raising the Pokémon themselves.

David:When we met at the hotel I thought you were a really nice guy. I would have assumed any azurian knew about Nearly ALL azurians sharking (the fact that we’ve got a whole forum dedicated to it might have been a bit of a give-away), but if you didn't, and you feel it was unfair then I accept that. But the fact is that my team was deleted 2 weeks before the championships by my brother, and I think even you will have to admit that playing through the game, and resurrecting an almost perfect team legally would have been almost impossible. Just because it has MAX HP, doesn’t mean it’s other stats are MAX, and you can ask anyone good on this board and they will verify that. But the fact is David, you couldn’t take losing to someone better than you. That’s it, no other reason.

Fiss:Now from this I am Genuinely sorry. You should have won that match, I accept that. The fact that you didn’t was a true miracle sent from God himself. But now I know that you were the one who ratted on me, I cant help feeling a little smug inside. For the fact is, that if I had been allowed to use my original team against you, I would never have been using Iyse’s Jolteon, which dealt with your Egger marvellously. Granted, I would have been using Zapdos, but I’m sure with your moveset you would have attacked and then Exploded, which I’m not sure Zap would have survived. But what you have to understand is (and this is aimed at Hoppip, Fiss, and David), is that this is not the way Azure is dealt with. Sure there is competition between Azurians, sometimes even formal competition (like Friday), but in the end we are brought together by the fact that we are Azurians. We are just people united by the fact that one day, we stumbled upon the greatest pokemon site in the world, and formed a community around it. And I thought that meant something to everyone. It certainly does to me. There are people here who I would regard as almost my Internet family. I would never do anything like what you did to any of them, and that’s what sets us apart from you.

what would you have done in my positition?
Would you have gone out and bought an Exploder, thankful that there was a way to reclaim your wrongfully deleted pokemon? Or, would you have sat at home, wallowing in self-pity, knowing that you would never get the chance again to show off what you can do in the arena, constantly reflecting upon what could have been, or rather, what should have been.
If you have as much passion for pokemon as I do, I’m sure there’s only one answer there that you can choose

Firstly, Iyse- I ratted Philbo in because he took the easy way out. If his team got erased, then he should have picked up his GB and trained it anew. A couple of days before the tournament, Jolt's team was languishing in their boxes at L50, but we knuckled down and got them all to L100 in a day, just fighting the Elite 4 (And even then he lost in the first fight). If Phil preferred tapping in some codes to get his team back instead of putting some serious hard work, then he didn't deserve to win.

Darryn- I don't feel ashamed. Phil couldn't be bothered to do some hard work to get his team back. I worked hard for months making my team and still lost. Oh and yeah, I never expected anyone to miss me. Second, I've said before, I didn't come to the tournament to win! I wanted to come to have a good time with pokemon I had spent a long time training, and to fight against people who had done the same. I was angry that someone who had created his team in 10 minutes had won a tournament, and wanted to make sure that it stopped there. I also had no "desire to win"- I didn't rat Philbo out because I was angry about losing. I knew from the start there was no way I was going to win, because I'd created a team that couldn't withstand the likes of the numerous Legendary Birds and Alakazams I'd face. I just wanted to have some fun. And finally no, I'm not the guy who was checking for Max Stats.

Finally- Philbo, it's good to see you actually posting in this topic. My answer to your question is none of the above. If you can afford to go out and buy an Xploder for the sole purpose of getting your team back, then that's your decision. If my team got vaped, I would have sat down and re-trained every last one of them, even if it took me all night. And, because I don't want to end on a bitter note, I want to tell you that I really want to blame all this fiasco on myself- but even so... I said before when I told them about you I was told that several others had suspected the same. So, even if I hadn't ratted you out, it might have been inevitable anyway because of the other unnamed individuals, possibly people at your Southhampton tournament, who suspected you. It seems no-one else has considered that. You jump to blame me, but I remember clearly that girl telling me other people already knew that you'd cheated. Wether I'd said or not, you would have eventually been found out because of those others. Even so, I'm sorry for this entire farce. Look at us. We've developed such a huge argument over such a petty thing. Oh wait a second- now people will have a go at me for saying that. Well, please restrain yourself. I formally apologise for everything I'm responsible for and bid you farewell.

I am saddened if it is. Hoppip, you have spent hours training monsters, right? So have I. You selected the movesets carefully, went out and found the right ones, and trained them right? So have I.

I also shark up lots of monsters, constantly.

What if that were me? How would you know if you were trashing a sharked team or a trained one?

You wouldn't. The simple fact is that they are E-L-E-C-T-R-O-N-I-C-A-L-L-Y I-D-E-N-T-I-C-A-L. That is simple fact. I don't care that you spent hours on the game. That doesn't mean that you or someone like you (even me) is more suited to win a competition that someone who saved themselves some time by modifying their RAM the quick way instead of the slow way.

Whenver I go to a tournament, the cart I use for competition is clean. Period. I can't be caught on anything: it's legal to trade monsters over from another cart, after all.

If I'm reading this right (maybe I'm wrong) then I'm sickened not just for that reason but for another:

Someone here at Azure was screwed with in real life for having posted things. Our supposed haven for discussing strategy has again (it is at least the second time) caused someone shit offline.

I can see it now: a year from now, I take time away from school and my girlfriend to again go to a tournament a few hundred miles away and play pokémon. Upon doing well, someone points at the screen and says "wait, that's one of cfalcon's monsters! He's an admitted Gamesharker!" Upon examining the cartridge, they find no reason to mess with me. Maybe they do anyway. Who knows? That would basically ruin my whole day, possibly my week. Or maybe it won't be me identified as the gamesharker and attached to an online personality. Maybe it will be one of you...

This isn't a good precedent.

If Nintendo announced a pokémon competition at some point in the future, I was thinking about getting an Azure heights shirt or something. Maybe someone would recognize me, and we could talk. A lot of this is meeting people and making friends. I guess that was a bad plan, huh? Good job discouraging that. This is a blow against the informality we have had here...

Maybe I read this stuff wrong. Maybe.

All I know is that in a similar position, I would be furious, whether or not my team happened to be sharked or not (likely a couple members would be and the rest would be trained- again, there are ZERO ways to tell them apart).

I'm going to recommend to Mr. K that Azure heights message board be shut down on tournament days. It is here for us to share strategies and things, not ruin people's days and provide Nintendo with information they shouldn't have.

I truly can't express how sad this makes me.

Like I said before, I was at the Bristol tournament, and I told one of the Nintendo staff that the Southampton tournament winner had used a Gamesharked team. To which she replied, "Yeah, a lot of people thought he had too." That is what
happened. And, if that is true, even if I had not told them, there is still a good chance that Philbo would have been disqualified, because as she said, other people had already suspected him.
Maybe, just maybe, I told that girl, and that was as far as it went. Maybe she just took it as a bit of slander, and disregarded it as such, like someone would start a false rumor that some football player preformed well and his team won the World Cup because he took drugs. (Not that I'm saying football players take drugs to preform well, it's just the first thing that popped into my head.) In fact, this possibility is becoming more and more likely the more I think about
it. Maybe I'm taking all this stick for nothing, and it wasn't my fault after all.

Azure Heights as a hive of Gamesharking cheaters (Which, if I- no, forget it, I'm not got to leave myself open to criticisim by bringing that up again) and everything like that. On Saturday
this topic had about 2 replies to it, and now it's grown to 2 pages long and 40+ replies, and half of them seem to be slagging me off in some way. Can we please just leave it at this? I'm sure that the rest of the board is withering and dying now that everyone who's anyone is all posting to this topic. I think I'm right in saying this is the only topic in Azure Arena who's
had replies to it all weekend. Just let it drop. I'm fed up of this idea and having to deal with what everyone throws at me. Hmm, the last paragraph seems to fit me perfectly Maybe it'd be the best for the board if I left. Feh.

But what real evidence did they have? He had Max HP which is a 1 in 30 chance. Easily attained through vigorous catching. Next, an internet message board where Philbo had said he sharked. First, this is the Internet we are talking about, long proven to have false information a lot of the time. Next, unless they go through lots of tracing, I don't think you can connect someone to an online alias. Maybe it could have been a coinincidence.

There really was no hard proof of sharking done. Even if we happen to have a shark in our pocket, that doesn't prove we cheated.

One last question though.

Hoppip: Did you really squeal out of the kindness of your heart, for the good of all pokemon trainers everywhere? Or was it because of sore losery?

The reason people probably thought I was cheating at Southampton was that their pokémon were not as good as mine. But how could they be if their trainers knew nothing of DV's and the box trick? Seriously, without good knowledge of the box trick and Dv's, none of their pokemon could have been as good as mine. And that's why they suspected, because their inferior little pokémon were nowhere near as good as mine. And that's not my fault

Secondly, my mum brought up the same point as you cfalcon. She said that that message was meant for everyone I know on Azure, not for people from Nintendo. But the very form that this message is given in nulify's this point. It is a sad fact, but this is an open forum, which means anyone can read it, whether directed here by someone or not. I know it sux, but there is no way around it. We are being watched

And yes, I am annoyed at how they came to there conclusions and branded me, but that's in the past now, and there's nothing I can do about it.

All I want to say is, to the person who told the nintedo people about Azure (directed them here), what did you hope to acheive? If you wanted to get me disqualified, it didn't work, so up yours you jealous faggot.
