You guys remember your first tour battle. I was so nervous, mostly because the only person I usually fought was Fish and he always beat me. My first battle was against some kid that was carrying a breifcase and opened up and... poof like 3 game boys and red/blue games and a couple japanese gold/silver games. I was sweating and shaking...
I had Jolteon, Mewtwo, Mew and a three other guys that I was not gonna use. I saw his guys... the three legendary bird, Mewtwo, Alakazam, and Hypno.
He lead with Hypno so I knew he was probablly gonna use all psychics.
I lead with Jolteon and let loose with a T-Wave him Psychic, Me ThunderBolt... a bit later Hypno was dead and I had about 50% health and out came Alakazam. Same senario and I killed him with a crit hit. Then out came Mewtwo, I was scared, I didn't get to know what any of his guys had because all he used was Psychic. Well Mewtwos psychic was enough to kill me, but not before I T-Waved him.
Out goes Jolteon for Mew. At the time it was the T-Wave/Horn Drill type. I used Horn Drill and he said that never hits, with a small smirc. I smiled and Gutted Mewtwo with Horn Drill. His jaw dropped and he looked kind of sick, I tried to hold down my excitement, but man that was one of the funnest times in my life...
Well how were all your first time battles?

I wish a tour came closer to my house...
The closest is at least a 4-5 hour drive, and my mom would never do that...

My first ever link battle was with a little kid that used to hang out at the sushi restaurant I used to go to all the time.

My team did OK (I had no idea if Wigglytuff was any good or not, and was surprised when he kicked ass) until he wasted the rest of my team with L50something Articuno.

At the time, 50 seems like a ridiculously huge Level.

I also did my first trading with him...I traded away my Flareon for a Hitmonchan and a couple other guys.

Ah, memories...

i remember that first tour..... ahh twas great...

ok, my first battle was against a kid who was like 18...i was freaked and the kid just looked and laughed when he sat down.. he was smirkin...when he led with his articuno, and me gengar...i hypnosised and he switched to a mewtwo, i then used nightshade and he switched out to a flareon, then i switched to my trusty ol blastoise and hydro pumped him away, then came that mewtwo and blastoise got him down to about 40% life and fell valiantly.....out came gengar(thought he had the advantage...lol) and gengar got a toss off before he fell....mewtwo at 30% and then came..CHARIZARD.... first i fireblasted to finish him off....then he brought out his sleepin articuno and then i took it down in 2 flamethrowers......

then the next battle, some little kid with a mewtwo that had icebeam freezed all of my pokemon and then he got DQ'd so i won... then the battle with kurt.... lets just not talk about that one hehe

In my first tourney battle, I had Ninetales, Vaporeon, and Raichu. All I remember he had was a Jolteon who kept hurting himself in confusion. After Ninetales did away with Jolteon, some person took out ninetales, and I killed him with a Double team/Toxic Vaporeon (I was semi-newbie at the time). In the second round, I got swept by an amnesia Mewtwo. I called amnesia a stupid move, then got blasted by it. How ironic.

Oh yeah, in the line, some people laughed at my team because it had no starters. I went on to whoop his 3 starter/Zapdos/Machamp/Alakazam team with Ninetales and Vaporeon alone. (In case you were wondering, Blastoise died via Toxic. I loved the days when people didn't no to switch out of toxic.)

Ohh...I remember this...

I send out Egg
He sent out M2
I powder
he sleeps
I double edge 3 times, he wakes up the turn he dies.

He sends out Aritcuno
I pull out Egg, and send in Starmie.
he blizzards, it misses.
I thunderbolt, 2/3 health.
He blizzards, hit.
I thunderbolt, dead.

He then sends out a Venusaur..he said it was rare candied. Feeling cocky, I minimize up while he charges up solarbeam. He hit me once, but I recovered it off. I blizzard, he's down with a tiny amount of health. I then start wasting time with minimize and recover..he was getting really pissed off. Then I blizzarded again, and won.

Hooray!

All I remember from my first tourney was that my toxic, reflect, counter, softboiled Chansey was unstoppable. People would laugh when i toxic'd their mewtwo, then i laughed when toxic would take away more life than mewtwo could recover.

The only Pokémon event I've been to was one of those Wizards tours...but there were still lots of people with Game Boys. I don't remember much, but I remember the first kid I battled who had 4 L229 Snorlaxen (sp?)! However, since he got them w/ the Missingno glitch and didn't train them all he had was Body Slam and Harden (that's all I saw him use anyway) so my Gengar had a great time wasting all of them with Night Shade. His friends were telling him to run away because he was just wasting time but the kid kept saying Harden would lower the damage I was dishing out. Rrriiiight...

My first official battle was against this little kid with really badly trained Pokémon. No TM's were used on his team, which gives you some idea how bad it actually was. But, hey, at least it scored me the Boulder Badge.

I send out Starmie, he sends out Fearow.
Starmie uses Blizzard, Fearow's down to a sliver of life.
Fearow uses Drill Peck, causing minimal damage.
Starmie uses Thunderbolt, Fearow is KO'ed.

He sends out Golduck.

Starmie uses Thunderbolt, Golduck is seriously weakened.
Golduck uses Fury Swipes, it does almost no damage.
Starmie uses Thunderbolt again, Golduck is down.

He sends out Alakazam.

Just for fun, I switch to Dragonite.
Alakazam uses Psychic, causing a bit of damage.
Alakazam uses Psychic again, taking Dragonite down to about 60% HP.
Dragonite uses Body Slam, thrashing Alakazam in one blow.

A pathetic match, to say the least.

But let's not get into my Cascade Badge battle... Ugh. I decided that I would dedicate my life to loathing all Mewtwos from that point on.

Ah, My first Tour, In the Days befor Level limites and Poke and Prime Cups. A time where no one would kick you out if you had A whole team of Only Mewtwo's who knew Pin Missle. Where Life bars streached across the screen Via Game shark, Mews were as rare and worth more in a trade then 20 Box's of Pure trained LV 100 Mewtwos(Not that any one beleaved in Pure Training back then, Just rare candy and Carbos). My first Battle: Walked up to the Pika Car, You were supposed to line up and wait for your turn to battle the Reffs. In line you could Battle each other. I walk up to this Black haired Older guy and Sweating like I was asking him to dance, asked him if he wanted to battle. He said Sure. We link up useing my Cable link(Still have it and never go to a tour with out it!) First think he use's is a....MEW!? I was like, "WOW! Where'd ya get the Mew?" He's like, "Gameshark". Man Today if you said you had gotten your Mew off a Game shark, those Tourny guys would kick your Ass outa there. So I fight him, and lose. In fact, as much as I hate to addmite it, I only won 3 battles that whole day! But just remeber I was a Newbie and didnt know better. But I did do some trades and got 2 Lapras'es! And a Kids Magmar for my Elecrabuzz. *Sigh* the Good 'ol days. But I like the way it is now better then back then anyway.
