Well, today I got a phone number from Mewtation for people to ring to see if they have qualified for the championship. The number is:0870 700 7530 Well, I rang up and spoke to a very friendly woman who asked me my name and searched the database for people in the Championship. I explained that I and my brother had registered on the internet and had recieved the first letter back from them containing the boulder badge. She searched the database and found that neither I nor my brother had qualified for the championship. Ok, I thought, I can accept that. No-one I know has qualified for the championship, including all the moderators from here and Mewtation.
(The site is not fully up and running yet, but it hopefully will be soon.)
Anyway, for future reference it is:

I was a bit annoyed however, and proceded to ask her the following questions:
"So there is no chance that me or my brother will be in it then?"
"Sorry, but that's the way it is"
"How many people are competing per store?"
"180"
"And how many dates will there be?"
"There will be a total of 14 tour stops"
She appologised wholeheartedly, which I was very grateful for. She did genuinly seem to care.
Then something sprung to me. I did some mental arithmatic and roughly worked out how many people in total would be competing. I talked again
"Excuse me, but am I right to say that this means that about 2500 people would be competing?"
"Yes, that would be about right"
"Well, in the advertising I saw, it was stated that over 30,000 people would be competing. Could you relay this point to Nintendo and tell them to await a letter from me in the meantime please."
"Yes, of course I will"
And with that, I thanked the woman on the line and put down the phone.
THEY ADVERTISED THAT 38,000 PEOPLE WOULD COMPETE, BUT THE ACTUAL COMPETITION ONLY GIVES 2520 PEOPLE THE OPPERTUNITY TO FIGHT. I ACTUALLY THINK THIS FIGURE COULD BE WRONG, AS 180 PEOPLE PER VENUE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO BE SET UP IN A TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE. THIS WOULD SUGGEST THAT THERE ARE ONLY 128 PEOPLE PER STORE AND THAT ONLY 1792 PEOPLE IN THE WHOLE COUNTRYWOULD BE COMPETING. As I said to the woman on the phone, I will be writing to Nintendo, and THE GAMES aswell.
I'll keep you posted on my progress...

It is ridiculous isn't it? I, like all of you, am disgusted. Originally there were going to be Tour stops at every EB and GAME, which seemed like a great idea. Now it's down to very little. The nearest place to be is a good hour away. The nearest EB is 10 minutes. How on earth do they expect us to travel that far? But since I'm not in anyway, it doesn't matter.BTW, that league sounds very interesting. ------------------

An hour? That's nothing. You can tough it out. Heck, my nearest tourney location is 2 hours away, but you have to drive through the New York City area. The other is 3 hours away.

Being in Florida in the US, we didn't have the problem of not being able to compete due to numbers: our format is set up differently.I did have to travel several hours, however, to get to the nearest one. And the first tournament had posted age limits (something really low like 12) so I couldn't get to that (I had just turned 21 and kept laughing about now that I was finally 21, I was too *old* to do what I wanted)... But you guys have it off horrible. I didn't know you had to submit teams: that's what did you in. I don't know their criteria, but I assure you that it meets one of the two categories: (1) They were looking for bad teams and little kids. This way everyone would have a fair chance, and there would be no big age difference. (2) They were looking for good teams. Sadly, they have no idea what a good team is, so yours were knocked out. In any case, my money is on the fact that they didn't want real players, but didn't make this fact clear. Horseshit, pure and simple: I'm sorry for you guys. In all fairness, it is possible they just randomly picked people. I would suggest one of you get to the place and observe, just so that you can report back here (hopefully in a new string) as to the type of tournament it actually was. If it's all a bunch of little kids and you aren't, there's nothing to be done. It isn't fun battling little kids usually: except for a small percentage (some of whom are probably on this board) they stink at the game... This one kid almost sank me with a TRANSFORMing Mew, but I pulled off a victory... he almost cried. It was my third best competition all day, though, I'll give him that. ------------------

Yeah, I'm gonna go to take stinkin thing on the 15th and shout serious abuse at the organisers.
I think it may have been random, cause at the start people had to choose teams, but for the second half they didn't.
But they advertised for 38,000 people!!!!

*sigh*I phoned up, and I'm not in it either! I phoned up, they said I wasn't it it...but.... They said go along anyway, and there may be places still there...and there's also 'special activites', although that's just taking the piss. So, go along anyway, there is still hope! ------------------
