So...can he top the last chapter??!? No! K’s tournament ends much less interestingly...

Match #7:

As it happened, both my new friends and the gangstas were at this arena too. We had some time beforehand to chat and it seems the friend had won both his matches as well. Thus making me feel even better about my victory.

(I also saw the gangsta guy I beat in the arena, but he stayed far away from me. Heh heh...)

Anyway, we discussed how much Mewtwo sucks, with my opponent across the way agreeing with what we said. He admitted that he didn't like him, but that he was a necessary evil. I guess I can understand that attitude...

I was in such good spirits, I happily belted out the Jigglypuff song when the Nintendo guy told everyone to sing it loudly or no one would go to Stadium. I think I kinda scared some people.

Anyway, I again offered to donate my Stadium pass (if I won) to the guy I beat in Match #6, but again I didn't win. By the way, this time, those who went to the Stadium were selected TOTALLY at random. Last time, they were randomly selected among Cascade Badge winners, which makes a little more sense. Maybe the competition was getting too tough for the reps.

The match was ready to start and the friend went over to watch the guy I beat.

My match started (after a short delay of the other guy fussing with putting his Pokemon into the box) and my opponent leads with Blastoise. He was shocked as Wiggly beat the krap out of him.

The other kid had already won his match, so his friend wandered back over to see Wiggly Body Slamming Charizard.

"Wiggly's playing that game again, huh?," he says.

"Yup!"

The other guy says "And he already killed my Blastoise, man!". Wiggly was almost spent and went for the Hyper Beam, but missed! Charizard was hurt bad, but finished off Wiggly.

Then I bring out...Koffing! As it didn't seem to matter who my Number 3 was anyway, I thought I might as well let him have some fun. Whatever, I was already a winner.

The friend asks me what's up with Koffing, but I assure him I have a plan. Koffing goes for Thunderbolt (vs. Charizard's Flying type), but he didn't survive the Fire Blast from Charizard (if ONLY he'd been paralyzed!). Aw, Hell. No worse than most of Lee's work today, tho.

Snorlax polishes off Charizard and next up is Mewtwo. Mewtwo gets really lucky with critical hits and Snorlax doesn't paralyze him...the match is over shortly. Oh well.

My opponent shakes my hand and wipes the sweat off his brow. He was really worried. He says, "So Wigglytuff is pretty strong, huh?"

Indeed.

Match #8:

I saw the gangsta I beat in the Winner's Circle, and ended up playing one of his friends. He spent the entire match having a conversation with another friend who was beating the stuffing out of a little kid.

He leads with Dragonite and keeps yammering away, and only starts paying attention to me after Wigglytuff is still standing and his Dragonite is gone.

He brings out Gengar next and puts Wiggly to sleep, then finishes him off. Snorlax is next, and is immediately to put sleep. (Note to self: Always switch out a badly wounded, sleeping Pokemon in tourney play, just to prevent your next guy from getting slept!)

I’ll never make that mistake again! -K

Snorlax takes many rounds of abuse and finally wakes up. I tell him to Earthquake, but he's immediately put to sleep again. Fucker!

But he wakes up immediately and, almost dead, rips off an Earthquake that kills Gengar in one shot.

Mewtwo is next, of course, and finishes off Snorlax before he can Rest.

The guy does a double take when Koffing comes out, but wasn't exactly quaking in his Pumas (or whatever). Koffing does Lee's job of dying to Psychic in one turn.

Oh well...

Gengar is now is on my Official Bastard List.

(The guy I beat in Match #6 swept both matches, by the way. I was glad he got a Cascade Badge.)

I really wish I could have taught this guy a lesson, especially since I'm sure he thought I was just a stupid trainer who didn't know how to pick Pokemon, but life is not like the movies and you can't win 'em all and all that.

I was a little deflated, but then I took another look at my Cascade Badge and it didn't matter.

Well, it mattered a little...

I’ve already posted the next chapters under different names. Maybe I’ll go rename them now. There’s only one section left un-posted, the Epilogue. And, I’ve got my first tourney report around here somewhere, if anyone’s interested.

seeing how bad whatever you happen to choose for your third poke does, anytime would be a good time to start training that buzz buzz.....

*crowd goes ahhh*

I was wondering, were the matched on GB or Stadium? Was it GB and PokeSta for the reps? Or what?

Yep.

They'd need to have a lot of teevees for an All-Stadium tourney. All they needed was chairs, tables, and link cables for the GB matches.

At my first tourney, they used Super Gameboys instead of Stadium. Probably more fair, but it didn't help them sell a new game...actually, I think they were promoting Yellow at the time...

I dunno. He does miss quite a lot with it. Even in the matches I played, he missed a few times. Less than half, but that's exactly what we'd expect.

War stories? I wish!!

Of course, most of the battles I'm in stretch out to around 10-15 minutes, 'cause stalling against M2 is such fun!

Especially with Chansey.
