iron tail the most under used move ever, well thats see the facts..

power 100, decent
accu 75, a bit annoying
30% chance of lowing defence, nice!
type steel, it rellys on attack.

now few pokemon can relly use this move properly but Mewtwo is one of them or to be more precice solo against solo Mewtwo. becuse who are you going to use in solo? Mewtwo, Lugia, t-tar (to kill Mewtwo) and Snorlax. (anyones eles you know who works well as solo?) now most of these pokemon can heal and are psy restiance but they don't like steel. the others can heal so you need to knock down there defence and a few can rise there special defence.

see my logic?

I've desidered since I can't get my Nidoking Gorkamorka into R/S he's be killed and reincarnated as a Metagross.

I guess that would seem logical...but er many people still won't use iron tail cuz of it's sucky accuracy. I would only teach iron tail to a steel pokemon for STAB.

Actually, it's YOUR loss if you use Iron Tail. You want a Physical attack on Mewtwo? Try Body Slam.

Iron Tail Statistics:
Base Power 100
Accuracy 75%
30% chance of lowering defense 1 level.
Steel Type.

Compare to the mediocre attack return:
Maximum Base Power: 102
Accuracy: 99.6 (100%)
Normal Type, no added bonuses.

So let's have them both being used from the same Pokemon: a Mewtwo. He will use it four times, normal effectiveness.

The result is (hypothetically) Return doing 136% or so of what Iron Tail would do. Compare it even to Body Slam, and you find that Body Slam would do (hypothetically) 113.3% of what Iron Tail would do, and throwing in standard odds, your opponent is paralyzed.

'nuff said.

As I said in another topic I said this, I'll say it again, I have a Scizor, and I would hate to teach it a steel type attack...

Only exception would be Steel Hidden Power, but, he's got bug =)

MK, you might want to try Steel Wing if it's a sweeper. Great for Rock types like FB Tyranitar.

As for Iron Tail... believe me, it's not all its cracked up to be. Most of the Pokemon who learn it and use it decently can find more effective ways to be SE against Rock and Ice.

Heck, Fighting is SE against everything Steel is, plus Normal, Dark, and Steel. So...

But by that token, you would have the defense lowered once in that time, and only hit 3 times. Depending on when the defense fell, the odds would stack it as making no difference.

And I only chose return because of it's near-round 102 Base Power and your love of Mewtwo for why I chose him as my explainer. IMHO Iron Tail is just not worth it.

Iron tail works on arcanine fairly well, does decent damage to tyranitars on the switch, and it doesn't really have anything else to do. Can also finish off fgt blisseys with the defence dalls.

over sleep talk of course! If you're scared of Jynx use Extreme speed once and Jynx is at 50% or less then a Miracle berry Would keep you awake to ES again for the kill. Also I would HIGHLY consider THIS set if you are worried about Jynx.
Arcanine
~Flamethrower/Fire Blast
~Curse
~Extreme Speed
~Safeguard/Iron Tail
@Miracle Berry
Flamethrower/Fireblast is about PP and Safeguard + miracle berry stops Jynx from sleeping you then two Fire attacks and she's gone. Curse and Extreme Speed is a total Sweep. Most Psychic pokemon have low defense so there is no need for Crunch because with Curse and Extreme Speed he can kill M2 in 2-3 moves for Ghosts that resist ES Flame-T and fire blast arent bad and Iron tail would be for T-tar, with Curse you can survive an EQ from him with hp to spare then iron tail for the kill.

5 curses maxes out his attack and he can 2HKO any psychic pokemon, Blissey, Snorlax, with ES 1HKO t-tar with iron tail after taking only 72 dmg from an EQ, Pseudo Hazing Skarmory doesn't work on him either as he can 1HKO Skarm with FB or Flame-t and most Hazers cant get haze off without getting down to about 15% life from ES then getting killed. Your only Fear here is Suicune and Lugia.

1 thing draco PLEASE LEARN TO SPELL REALLY i know you probably do but mispelling it EVERY time is annoying "now few pokemon can relly use this move..."

Switch against Suicune. Lugia is always a concern, as are Mewtwo, Mew, Ho-oh, etc.

What Nintendo doesn't want you to know
Uiru: "Now that we're all used to the rules, clauses and by-laws... what would happen to the metagame if every one of them were whipped away?"
GP-Chan: "id probably quit every battle, and not just every other battle."
ThumbsOfSteel: "Why, because they broke the rules?"

Watch out for donphans with roar as they really screw this set over pretty well, as I'm pretty sure donphan could take an extremespeed.
