got a brans new team, don't need your opinion or anything and no ideas needed either, this one rocks!

veloS be scared for 3rd of May, haha whawha [Big Grin]

But because every opinion here is useless, here is an idea, go train and do it your way, because that's the way you like playing the game, and it's probably the best way, unless you are training a 'karp or caterpie... [Cool]

Umm, that's what we do here. If you look at the teams, 90% of them have some random guy that the trainer just loves sooo much he refuses to drop. Koffings, Furrets, Wigglytuffs, Sandslashes (for me). Noone here told you that you HAD to have something, we simply said that you were thinking about things the wrong way. You were here trying to make the "Perfect" team. You may not have thought so, but what we were doing was trying to get you TO HAVE FUN, you were way to serious. If you had posted a team to rate rather than ask for the "Unbeatable team" your response would be completly different.

What Sy_ke and o.O said.

And no new teams are unbeatable, unless of course you have 0 wins and 0 loses.

As long you took that horrible Gengar out I'm fine....C ya in may.... [Roll Eyes]

I'll use my bad-ass Primeape....my favourite WILL go on a killin' spree.... [Razz]

I don't believe in the perfect team, I do believe in teams that are perfectly balanced. Teams that are hard to beat even if you know how it works, because all the teammembers back each other up. It's pretty difficult to make one though...

People, give ProGamer a break. Perhaps there is a conflict between different definitions of what an "unbeatable" team is. Keep in mind that metagame and the element of surprise are just as important as the pokemon you choose. Therefore it is possible by selecting rare/underused/underrated pokemon with rare/underused/underrated attacks to make a team that cannot be beaten by a person who has not previously seen it. My definition of unbeatable is a team that cannot be defeated on the first try. Any team and any player can be beaten if the other party is given a chance to obsess over the details of the "champion" team.
Some players have pointed out that if given a chance, a good player will compose a team specifically designed to combat the desired team. The most important word here is "IF". Besides, everyone has their favorite teams. Those teams are usually constructed based on personal preference and not to combat every possible team.

P.S I have constructed a team that is only vulnerable to two attacks that are rarely if ever used. It deals with Mew2's, stallers and "sweepers". It also deals with "resting and recovering" opponents. This is an RBY team, so "Mean Look" and "Baton Pass" don't apply to it. My only question is whether a Level 100 Rhydon(full stats) can survive a Psychic attack from Level 100 Mew2(full stats pre-amnesia).

well i tried your rhydon and it could survive if it has a focus band, but he if you see a mewtwo just don't send out your rhydon, no problem, right?
i think rhydon is great but it's special stats are just a little...sucks, but it's willing to learn some of the best moves of the game, so it's your choice, just go with the flow

Don't worry, my Rhydon is NOT supposed to face mew2 outright. Rhydon is not my opening pokemon, he just finishes whatever others have started. Here is my team:

Electrode(opening salvo) L100
Chansey (portable medkit)L100
Zapdos (cool bird, workhorse)L100
Dodrio (workhorse)L100
Rhydon (workhorse, deals with stallers)L100
Gengar (workhorse, deals with excessively "sleeping" opponents)L100

I am not listing attacks here because they are the secret strategy I am developing. Each pokemon was chosen because they either excel in a certain category, or have the most attack points for a particular attack.

Just what two attacks is your team "weak" to?

To answer your question, Mewtwo's Psychic tops out at 59% to Rhydon. One Amnesia and it's guaranteed OHKO. Crit-Hit comes 3 HP short of guaranteed OHKO.

Counting weaknesses, I see a triple to Ice and a combined 5 against Ground/Rock, with no counter to either. If you claim those are the "rarely used" two attacks, you obviously don't have a clear enough picture of the metagame.

If you somehow think that withholding attacks makes a team better, I would like a reason. Each of your Pokemon has at most 8 competent movesets, and though you may think "suprise value" such as Thundering Rhydon is the way to go, anything other than the well-established sets will land you in the loser's bracket and out by round 2.

Do you have any objections?

Although I think most of us would prefer it, this is NOT RBY, where Amnesia makes Mewtwo the cheapest slut since penny night at the Jynx house.

I am withholding attacks precisely to obscure my strategy. Don't take me as a fool, I have read what is written on this web site and on this forum many times. I have read articles on "standards" and how they are discouraged, so what is wrong with my team?

Thundering Rhydon? WTF? I am not coming up with outrageous combos, in general, the moves I have chosen match the types of pokemon I use. You said there are at most 8 competent movesets, why don't you list how you would counter each? If I see that my combo won't work in theory, then I would stop posting on this subject.

See, here's the big problem with ultimate teams and the like.

They're boring. So fricking boring.

Here at Azure Heights, I have seen so many similar teams with 6 standards and crap. Sure, they're standards because they're good (in general), but you must realize how horribly boring it is to rate the same teams over and over again. This is the problem you have. You need variety. You need to spice things up a bit. So here's what I suggest you do: Take your "ultimate team," whatever it may be, and replace just one Pokemon with a Pokemon you honestly like. Not a Pokemon you use just because it has high stats or is a popular standard, but just a Pokemon that you feel is cool.

For topics related to this, search for Mr.K's First Tourney and Mr.K's Second Tourney in Azure Arena.

You might be surprised, but I decided I want a Zapdos, Gengar, Chansey BEFORE, I started assembling my team. Electrode, Rhydon(I actually wanted a Golem), Dodrio came out of necessity. So it is not all the super popular pokemon that I chose because everyone uses them.

If one cannot chose the pokemon one feels necessary, then what is one supposed to do?
I can't choose Raichu, Wigglytuff, Clefable, Ninetales, Chansey, Psyduck because they look cute can I?

my question: would you feel better about losing to a team of standards or beating a underused/theme team?
i think using somehting like a dunsparce in battle is hilarious. if it gets 1 kill, im joyfull. [Smile]
