Everyone knows the standard ways to kill Curselax (CH Cross Chop, Skarm's Whirlwind, etc). My question is: What are your unusual Curselax counters?

I personally found this Porygon2 to be quite secksee:

~Psych Up
~Agility
~Return/Tri Attack
~Recover
@Leftovers

If only I could remember who posted it...

Here's one I thought of, but it's illegal...

Alakazam:
~Encore
~Psychic
~Psych Up
~Counter
@Leftovers

The basic strategy was to Encore the Curses, use Psychic during the setup, then Psych Up the Curses and Counter the physical attack for a possible faint.

Well, I say "Screw the Pokémon Law and be Illegal! Use a Blastoise with Mirror Coat and Haze, have a Sub Passing Scizor and give Alakazam Counter and Encore at once!" Er, speaking of that the flaw is that A LOT of the time you'll find that whoever it is will just come out and crush you with a D-E/Return/Body Slam rather than start Cursing up against an Alakazam.

Most of the people I've used him against thought that "accidentally jiggling" the link cable until the match was lost and thus a "draw" was a pretty decent strategy... I like yours better though.

How about you send out Jynx, or even better, Eggy, as soon as you see a Snorlax? Just put the thing to sleep before it gets off more than one Curse.
With Jynx, you could Mean Look Lax(if she learns it, can't remember) either before or after (preferably after) you send it to sleep. If the Lax leaves before you Mean Look it, then congrats cause it just lost the Curse. If it stays in, Mean Look it, then use Blizzard/Ice Beam or S-Toss if you have it. When Lax wakes up, put it back to sleep.
With Eggy, put it to sleep, then use Psychic. If it switches out, again congrats cause he lost the Curse. If he stays in, keep pounding away with Pstchic. This way, even if Eggy dies (faints being the politically correct version), there's a good chance that Lax's special (defense?) would've dropped.

These may not be weird ways to deal with anything (especially something slow) that comes equipped with Curse, in the sense that they come about by a strange way of thinking. But Jynx and Eggy are good all-around team members that aren't specialized to kill Lax's. They are great members of any team that can take out lots of things, and Lax's are just one of them.

A while ago I tried using this.

Clefable @leftovers
encore
psych up
return
moonlight

Even if it doesn't kill them, they'll probably switch. Pass it a mean look from an umbreon or something and this will work better, since it's all set up to sweep after it kills the curser.

Not sure if this will work, I've never tried it (or battled GSC at all for that matter).

Hypno@Mint Berry
Barrier
Counter
Rest
Seismic Toss

With 1 Barrier, it can survive a fully cursed Snorlax's Double Edge, and then Counter for the KO. Then Rest off the damage and take out another Cursers (if there is one). Does anyone have any experienc with a set like this? Is it practical, or does it just look good on paper?

I love how the fact that most of these sets are designed to take down Curselax, and are good for nothing else.

I wonder what would happen to the counter if the Curselax didn't show up on the opposing team?

Finally someone realizes that. Anyway, I think I remember something, but I'm not sure if it's real or not, I'm not sure. But you can't use Curse if Snorlax has 3 Swords Dances passed to it, right? Well, you can't Curse if Speed is all the way down, because like with the SD example, you can't raise Attack anymore, in this case you can't lower Speed anymore. So that way Snorlax is caught up. Therefore, I thought of this.

Ampharos or Jumpluff
T-Wave/Stun Spore
Cotton Spore
<Insert two fillers here>
@Something

You T-Wave or Stun Spore them, which reduces Speed in all and might save you from the Quake if it's Ampharos or the D-E on Jumpluff's low Defense. Cotton Spore thrice to put Speed down to nothing so no Cursing is allowed. They'll switch, and the next thing will be T-Waved. So not only will you prevent Cursing but it'll cause switching and Paralyzing the new thing. Of course this all goes down the drain if my whole theory is wrong, but what they hey it's worth a shot, isn't it? And not only that this pretty much works all-around, not just for taking CurseLax. If you have a BPing Ariados/Umbreon that can send over a Spider Web or Mean Look this might just work even better.

Hoo yeah. A Snorlax that's slower than everything else, but still has the stat boosts from Curse.

That's really gonna be useful when Snorlax's Double-Edge takes out most Pokemon in one hit anyway.

Hmmmm...I thought my Jynx/Eggy idea would hold up, since they're both good pokes that can take down a few, not only Curselax.

Yea, Jynx has bad Defense, but she makes up for it with her Speed. If you send her in the turn you see a Lax, the Lax will Curse on that turn, then put him to sleep the next turn. Of course if Lovely Kiss misses, then Jynx is as good as dead. Eggy might be better cause he has an actual Defense and can take a few hits.

Just thought I'd point out that this allows the 'Lax 5 turns (1 on the switch, 4 on your setup). So it curses on the switch, and then your supposed to survive 4 turns with Ampharos/Jump? Sorry, but even with T-Wave you don't have a chance.. nice try though...

I know this topic hasn't been touched ina few days, but I've been thinking about Dragonite21's statement. I've come up with this:

Snorlax@Leftovers
Reflect
Counter
Belly Drum
Return

Snorlax can Reflect and survive a 999 attack DE, even after a Belly Drum. Even if Snorlax decides not to show up, you still have a somewhat functional Belly-Drum Lax (It can't deal with Ghosts or Skarmory, or other stuff like that) but it's a good compromise between being a specialist and a general attack Pokemon.
