Yes, electrode. I've used him a few times but never seen anyone else do so. Let's look at his stats.

HP: 323
Attack:198
Defense:238
Speed:378
SpD:258
SpA:258

Horrible attack and less than average defense. Average special stats. Best speed in the game. HP is poor. He wouldn't be much as a sweeper, so we have to look for support roles. IMO, his speed makes him a great lead.

Some moves(if I miss any good ones, let me know): T-bolt, T-wave, Thunder/Raindance, Swagger, explosion, HP, reflect, light screen, mirror coat, screech, substitute, curse/rollout, snore/rest. Just a range of moves

Viable moves on Trode: T-bolt, T-wave, RD/thunder, swagger, explosion, HP, reflect, light screen, screech, Sub.

A couple of sets:

T-wave
Swagger
screech
explosion
@miracleberry

Lead. Swagger/screech combo. Parafusion and screech force switches to paralyze more. Explode when dying or after he finishes his job.

T-wave
T-bolt
explosion
reflect
@leftovers

Can attack and paralyse, plus pseudo-pass. Too bad he can't have safeguard.

Rain dance
Thunder
HP Water
explosion
@mystic water

Early attacker. Can counter Jolt/Wak combo since it isn't hard to predict the BP.

As you can see, all of these are lead sets, as that is what he does best, and can counter most starters with some reliability. He's also immune to attract. While he's no Jolteon, he still has reliable lead capabilities, if not better due to speed. Attacking is a problem, but that isn't why he's here, although explosion + screech can leave a dent in almost anything with it's 500 base damage(It is 500, right?). I still don't see why he isn't used much. Maybe it's just me, but plan to see him on a few more of my teams.

I've been using Electrode intensively since Cat-Gonk posted his moveset on AGNP over a year ago, back in RBY days:

Thunderwave
Thunderbolt
Explosion
Flash
@Przcure Berry

Cat-Gonk's idea was to Thunderwave, then Thunderbolt the vulnerable and Flash the rest (to force a switch, natch)-- and of, course, resort to Explosion if the above plans aren't working. I don't know if he's changed this or reconsidered any of it...I personally don't see anything in GS that would prompt any changes.

It worked quite well for me in S1 and S2, as well as in the L100 Battle Tower. I also like it on link battle teams as a "false starter", as it pretty much guarantees you the first shot, which is useful for defeating certain common opening strategies, particularly when you have zero idea what the enemy will be throwing at you. Of course, Electrode is not the most durable platform out there, so I pretty much treat it as completely expendable--as long as it lets me sound out the enemy and fiddle with their plans, the job is done. When using Electrode as the starter, I keep a "true starter" that I usually bring out after after Electrode's suicide mission is over.

I think Electrode is pretty darn nifty.

I say that you would have to be lucky to get flash to work, and double team would really fulfil the same purpose, they just switch to a switch-forcer, you explode on their roarer/hazer and at least hurt it, there we go:

+mira
t-wave
t-bolt
d-team
explosion

heheheheehehehehee

substitute, thunder wave, thunderbolt, explosion/grass hp

i've had people quit against me because they said it was cheap. well, okay, just one person. it either causes a serious headache for the other guy or he barely notices it before it's dead, but it's hella fun to use either way.

jolteon works great with the same set (roar/grass hp instead of explosion/grass hp).

Electrode's good fer takin out dem annoyin Starmie starters. Wit da Spikeys on da Quilfish n da Spikeys on da Cloysters, 't may prove invaluable. An if yas add a HP Fire, ya get...tada! The anti-Spike Trode!

HP Fire
Thunderbolt
Explosion
Thunderwave
@Przcure Berry

Actually, I used a *modified* Electrode for the PS2 R2 battles. Works well, but confusion and Ghosts are its major weaknesses. (I never use sharked pokes against actual people though) Here it is

Spider Web
Spore
Mind Reader
Guillotine
@Leftovers

You could always replace Fissure with Horn Drill...

There are two main reasons I think 'Trode makes a great starter.

1) Jolteon. The Sub/Attract set gets royally screwed over by Electrode. With Jolty par'ed it's hardly going to out up the same fight.

2) Pseudopassing. It can learn both Reflect and Light Screen, and can also blow up and leave them behind for the incoming Poke.

Personally, I don't really don't see it as much of a streaightforward attacker. The old RBY sets probably would still work fine in GS, But I'd rather be using it as support.

The main options seem to be between Reflect, Light Screen, Explosion, Sub(so you know what to pass), and T-wave. That's 5 moves to choose from, without even looking at a basic attack.

I'd probably go with Sub/Reflect/Light Screen/Explosion @ Pink Bow. Sub first. No matter what you're against. Set whatever screen is most approproate,(or both if you have the chance) and then blow up.

Mewtwo.

The Support Electrode was nothing short of a necessity on power-Poke teams. Mewtwo never had Rest, but frequently had Substitute in order to block state changes. Even without Sub the advantages were clear, should the thing somehow manage to get Amnesiaed before yours, a Thunder Wave left it wide open to Explosions, which were far and away the most effective way of dealing with the things short of using one yourself.

Sadly, with the changes in Amnesia's effect Electrode isn't the only thing capable of stopping a Mewtwo, which basically throws it off the list of viable Pokemon.

But it's still better than Magneton, but you knew that already
