Basically, what movesets would you use if you went up against, say, a bunch of TPMers that know nothing about purely strategic moves (e.g. Attract, Heal Bell, Psyche Up, Mean Look, etc.?) Assume they use defense sometimes and Haze on occasion. And assume they're very lucky and use super-legendaries. ^_^;

I would use my team, with ninetales/meganium/lanturn/hitmontop/piloswine/mew

simple pokes, all have stab, nothing too complicated.

A legendary is only legendary if it has a legendary set.

Okay, maybe I wasn't clear. I also wanted movesets.

But, thanks anyway.

I don't think any moveset is entirely Lucky-Newbie-Proof. Just last night, my brother using my lapras hit a body slam through 5 DT's with a critical hit to KO my weakened Raikou.

Too bad for you. Well, I guess I'm looking for sets that win most of the time. And ones that can take out super-legendaries. Most trainers where I live have no sense of ethics.

For the Ho-Ohs...
Raikou:
Water HP, RD, Thunder, Dt/reflect *something
I tried it and it kicks @$$!

Lugia:

Either a SpA Gengar with:
Ice Punch
Confuse Ray
Mean look
Curse *leftovers/nevermelt ice

OR me favorite homebrewed Umbreon (works on newbish M2s too)

Swagger
Psyche Up
Mean look/roar
Shadow ball *Leftovers/Spell tag

And M2 only sets...

Houndoom
Crunch
Flamethrower
Sunny day
Solarbeam (whatever)

Like? No like? Talk!

Lugia:

Either a SpA Gengar with:
Ice Punch
Confuse Ray
Mean look
Curse *leftovers/nevermelt ice

arg.... lugias sp def is 406! It will take you out with earthquake, and recover any confusion damage.

OR me favorite homebrewed Umbreon (works on newbish M2s too)

Swagger
Psyche Up
Mean look/roar
Shadow ball *Leftovers/Spell tag

if you use swagger.. it will ANNIHLATE you with submission.

And M2 only sets...

Houndoom
Crunch
Flamethrower
Sunny day
Solarbeam (whatever)

one amnesia and houndoom is useless against m2.

OK, OK, I pulled Houndoom/Raikou out of my ass, fine. But, if you're fighting a bastard, BE a bastard and use Loogiea/Ho-ho (no, not a typo, I meant to type it like that) and El Cheapo yourself if you think the other sets'll lose!

Ho-Oh:
Ancientpower
Sacred fire/earthquake
Curse/Safeguard
Recover *Hard stone/Soft Sand/Mysteryberry

Mewtwo:
Shadow Ball
Swagger
Psyche Up
Recover *Something, what I dunno
OK, this I pulled out of my ass. I love swaggerupping, and M2 can whip major ass once he's ready. On Lugia and other Psykers, of course. This is some specialized shiz. Maybe ghosties...

Lugia:
Aeroblast
Earthquake
Safeguard
Recover *sharp beak/mysteryberry
No strengths, but not many weaknesses either. Maybe slap t-bolt on there or something.

More total shit.

Thanks for all your help. I, for one, intend to not use super-legendaries in battles, otherwise I probably wouldn't have posted this. Besides, if they start using normal-strength Pokemon (after my example), they're still going to be horrible strategists, and I can beat them with more ease.

I guess I forgot to mention that I'm thinking of having a tournament where I live, and that they really suck as trainers. I don't know much about what Pokemon they'd use (the tourney would be a while from now), but I do know the kinds of strategy they use, and it would be hard for them to improve to Azurian level, even over the course of a year. Hey, it's been a year since I first came here, and I was almost better then than they are right now.

I don't think I have to worry about Cursing Houous or Mewtwos with Submission. Maybe I should stick with my Shadow Ball/Screech/CRay/MLook Umbreon that I already have. It works. And I won't have to raise it from a low level ^_^;

Should I go for a Rock Slide/Crunch/Earthquake/Fire Blast Tyranitar? I can get one easily, and I've heard that they sweep super-legends.

Weather strategies just don't work for me.

How about a DT-ing Kingdra? DT/Rest/Surf/Ice Beam... It should work.

The best Houou moveset is Sacred Fire/Recover/Earthquake/Thunderbolt. SE against most main types. Guaranteed.

I like a Mewtwo with Submission better.
Submission/Psychic/Recover/Safeguard

Erm, IMO, the Cursia set is best.
Curse/Aeroblast/Ancientpower/Recover

Or the Extreme Damage set, good for annoying Recoverers. Does extreme damage in the turn FS hits.
Future Sight/Recover/Aeroblast/Earthquake

EDIT: Didn't see above post when typing super-legendary sets. Too lazy to delete.

1) That's not possible. The n00bs come in all shapes and sizes. RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!

Actually, on a more serious tone, Get a Girafarig with Agility and Amnesia, and pass it to a Curselax or Cursaring. Both can learn Counter, for Submission M2, and both have massive potential for damage wiht Curse + Return. Agility for first move (May need to use 2 Agilities, and it will still wear off after a few) and Amnesia for blocking the stupid Special Attacks.

Also, Mean Look/Toxic Umbreon works wonders against n00bs.
As does Perish-Trapping.

Beating n00bs = FUN!

Girafarig w/ Agility, Amnesia: have.
Curselax: Gonna get one eventually, anyway, so why not. I'll go with DE over Return, though, b/c I used DE all the time in RBY, and I'm used to it by now.
I have a Mean Look/Toxic Crobat in training. I guess you're right, though, Umbreon's better. Except that I'll probably have a Dark-type on my team anyway, in case any Psychics show up to fight [Crobat].

Let's see...

Tyranitar, Girafarig, Snorlax, Kingdra...

Come to think of it now, I could use a modified version of TheTrueHaunter's Big Gun. For those of you not around before he left (because of too much cursing on the board) or those who just didn't see it, Big Gun involves a Girafarig or Ledian Passing Agility (and Reflect, in Ledian's case) to a Snorlax, which then uses Belly Drum and Restberry, after which it OHKO's every Pokemon (except Skarmory) with either Double-Edge or Earthquake. Seeing as I've swept these particular newbies' teams with nothing more than a Double Teaming, Swords Dancing Scizor (that I use just for utility -- it knows False Swipe), I think they shouldn't stand a chance.
And I don't expect to see Mewtwos with Submission. Those smart enough to put it on have at least strong enough ethics to know not to use it in the tourney.

But two attacks are useless against Gligar and Sacred Fire will run out, leaving you with no attacks to defeat it. I'll use Rest and then Return your ass off.

What makes you think that I won't bring in Eggy and explode in your face and bring in my Missy to finish you off?

HELLO,ZAPDOS!

Your movesets are fine against some newbies, but some people will bring in stuff like Tyranitar and the birds,so you should be careful about weaknesses,or else you'll be switching a lot in game.

1 level 100 poke is good enough to take out a newbie. Heck, the moveset doesn't even matter. Splash would work.

4 of my cousins came over today, and they brought their GB games with them.
I challenge one of my cousins and he used a level 27 Nidoqueen on my level 100 eggy.

His team just fell from there.
Later that day, he said you should evolve a pokemon as soon as possible so it'll get a cooler form.
I let him play stadium all day, and he lost in every battle until I told him what to use.

Thank god he wasn't staying longer than a day...

He didn't even know what level and EXP was(nor stats). :/

For crying out loud, they're not that stupid.

And they'll be using L:100 Pokemon, or close, probably.
